Call me a schizoid for reviewing this game a 3rd time but in it's current state I can not recommend it to anyone outside of people who don't care about cosmetics or have enough people to play custom games.

Halo Infinite's gameplay? 8/10, easily. It is very crisp, very smooth, and enjoyable, having a perfect middleground for newcomers to Halo as well as older fans of the series to enjoy.

Halo Infinite's multiplayer system? Absolute 3/10. It is genuinely one of the most soul-draining things to experience with how content is drip-fed to the player, and there is no way for the player to find a game mode they like. This is ASTOUNDINGLY baffling considering how excellent it was for MCC to let you choose what you wanted to unlock, awarded you xp based on how well you did plus challenges, and most importantly GAVE THE PLAYER AN OPTION TO CHOOSE WHAT GAME MODE THEY WANT TO PLAY.

Your gameplay can only go so far when I'm stuck to playing a game mode I don't enjoy. Personally, I hate the control points game mode, I absolutely feel like I'm about to sleep playing it, and my friends hate it as well. Now this wouldn't be an issue if we were given a playlist option where we could simply filter out a game mode we didn't want to play, but instead we have to pray that the game doesn't fist ♥♥♥♥ us with Control Points or whatever game mode we've had our fill of. This is why you will see MANY team mates quit as soon as the match starts. I never do that in a game, but now? Now I do because I don't want to spend 15 minutes in soul-crushing boredom.

Speaking of soul-crushing, let's talk about the battlepass and customization. Even with their "fix" they implemented, this game is still going to be dropped by many people in a short amount of time if they do not radically overhaul this system. There is nothing more infuriating in a game when all your efforts go for nothing in a multiplayer match. I can get enough medals in a match to put a tin-pot dictator to shame and be rewarded with a measly 50 xp in a game where a each level up requires 1000 xp to progress. Unless I meet tons of challenges that are entirely dependent on random chance with weapon drops/game modes, I would have to play 20 games to go up a level! TWENTY GAMES. Even if I do level up, I have no input in what I get! I could get a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ visor or color I don't want, even though MCC let me choose what I wanted to unlock. ♥♥♥♥! That game was handing out level-ups like CIA operatives handing out cocaine in lower-income neighborhoods when Reagan was in office! There is an illusion of customization for the player. In 3 and Reach, everyone had their own unique Spartan, with different cosmetics unlocked on skill and all colors given to the player. In Infinite you have a small pre-selected amount of color schemes to choose from, none of which I personally like, and I can't do a damn thing to change that. Every single Spartan looks identical, with everyone unlocking the same level of cosmetics at roughly the same time. I only felt 2 hours of uniqueness with the Commando helmet before everyone caught up to me, and even then I only wore the commando helmet because it made me briefly stand out, not because I actually liked it. It is disgusting how much time or money 343 demands of you in order for you to reach a point where you can look at your spartan and say "yup, that's what I'd ideally want to look like if I was a Spartan." unlike how in 3 and Reach, how everyone felt that joy relatively quickly.

343 only changed* (*did ♥♥♥♥ all) with their progression system because people and game journos in a rare display of harmony said "This sucks!" and have now proceeded to ignore the large chunk of players who still are upset with how bad this system is. If they don't I guarantee you I, and probably many others are just going to play the campaign, and drop multiplayer for the most part because it fundamentally is built to make you unhappy.

TLDR. Fun gameplay is crippled by a battlepass that still sucks, and not allowing players to choose what game mode they want is genuinely infuriating.

This is an edit of my review, wasn’t satisfied with it before.

If I had to give this game a neutral rating, I would. Until then it is a solid 5 out of 10 thus making it negative much to my sadness.

Sub Rosa is, or was a game about shady businessmen in a semi-sandbox city with a set of open ended rules about acquiring floppy disks for their employers. Teams would talk over the phones about where to meet for an exchange, and it would usually result in a gun battle with tons of people dead and one side richer. It was fun, the map was colorful and different. One round might be a shoot out at a burger shop, the next might be a car chase where one driver rammed through a glass window and flew down a flight of stairs to exit another window on the ground floor of the mall. Cramped gun battles could occur at construction sites. The cherry on top? Everyone had fun and no one took it seriously thanks to the bizarre look and wonky controls. Every team had a guy blaring music and someone with an Italian-American accent.

That world doesn’t really exist anymore. Sure, you can visit it, and if you’re lucky, 10-20 people might be playing it. The game mode is called Rounds. However, with the introduction of the World mode, it dwindled severely. On average, 50-60 people play Sub Rosa in my region: NA and most if not all of those players are on World mode. Why is World so, so bad that it’s completely lowered my review of this once near perfect game to 5/10?

It’s boring, unfinished, and no one knows how to play it. The map exudes an aura of a rushed project and seems like free terrain for role playing games I could 3d print. Buildings are basic looking, featureless, and Soviet era apartment complex level minimalist. Yes, the golden age of Sub Rosa was minimalist also, but it had a charm to it, like as if you made a city out of Legos with a twist of the shootouts from Heat. The only markers to objectives are icons on the map as opposed to named locations like Rio or Hondo Park. The new game feature which is essentially hacking disks on a IBM computer from the 80’s is universally hated by newcomers and veterans alike. The people I’ve spoke to that learned it only learned it because no one else would, not because it seemed interesting. If you somehow get enough people to join you to start a team, expect it to all fall apart because someone doesn’t know how to decrypt, and you’re gonna have to shift-tab and check a community guide on how to use it. Seriously, you are going to spawn in, sit at spawn for 20 minutes, laugh a bit at some jokes and then quit because no one knows what to do or you grow bored of doing nothing for nearly half an hour.

The lead dev, Alex? No one likes him. If this was a ship, the community was the crew, and Alex was the captain, he would have been mutineed over a year ago. Seriously, the vast majority of this community ♥♥♥♥ talks him in the game harder than the Fez community ♥♥♥♥ talks Phil Fish, which is impressive. He might work on this game daily, but the updates for this game are so ungodly slow that I guarantee you that you could knock your wife up and have that child be born before a new update comes out, he’s that slow at updating his game and the wait is NEVER worth it. To everyone, including me, it looks like he took our money, pocketed it, and went to post about some stuff on twitter. I wouldn’t be surprised if he only spends 2 hours a day working on this game, seriously, how the hell has Devolver not cut him off their payroll or told him to put updates out more frequently? I’m not saying Alex can’t live his life, what I am saying is that when you take our money, you have an obligation to work on the project we all want to see succeed.

Sub Rosa, in its current state is not worth $20, and you’re going to get bored very, VERY quickly. Unless you are a youtuber/streamer with a big friend group or large enough following that you could pack a server, it’s not worth it at all. Alex, please. You’ve alienated your once dedicated community and have turned it into a ghost town with your lack of updates. Please prove us wrong and make Sub Rosa the fun game it used to be.

A terrible, truly awful game that’s only “fun” when you’re laughing at it with your friends. The devs have completely abandoned it. Here’s a few reasons you should avoid a game which should have shuttered DICE

-The guns are mostly reused assets from BF1 or guns that never saw widespread use while guns from the Soviet Union are completely non-existent save for a mosin-grenade launcher. Forgottenweapons is a great channel, but you seriously can't have a huge chunk of the roster dedicated to guns like that while completely ignoring one of the biggest nations in the war. But hey, they did it with France in BF1 so I'm not that shocked.

-The game barely feels like it’s set in WW2 with nonsensical attachments, silly cosmetics, and special characters. It desperately tries to tiptoe around the fact it’s set during WW2 and generally feels like it’s insulting the player by trying to show a heavily neutered experience. Remember, showing the flag of Japan which killed and violated 3-10 million civilians as well as uncounted amounts of PoW’s is okay, but Germany’s flag is a no-no (Though showing German crimes against humanity like executed civilians is okay I guess).

-Battle royale game mode LOL

-Game is completely abandoned because of how it’s entirely unfun to play, and as a middlefinger they left the game in a horribly unbalanced state where some weapons are OBJECTIVELY better and if an opponent has one, you’re screwed. Your infantry AT weapons are absolutely useless if a tank is after you. Two Panzerfausts knock off a third of a tanks health at max HP, unlike the GOATed BF4 where you have like, 7 rockets to stand a chance. And don't try to pull that "Well that's realistic to only have two panzerfausts", this is the same series where people would jump out of planes, destroy another plane with a bazooka and land back in their plane. Most of the maps have tanks also, so have fun dying over and over again because even a well co-ordinated squad can’t fight a tank effectively.

-Equipment and guns are unlocked by credits rather than just leveling up. Can that feature just ♥♥♥♥ off entirely?

There’s plenty more reasons why this game is an absolute mistake. Leadership at DICE needs to change drastically because take it from me, Battlefield 6 is going to suck too if this is how they think shooters should be played. Stick with Battlefield 4 or if you really need the WW2 itch scratched play Day of Infamy, World at War, or Hell Let Loose

Lemme clarify by saying that I've spent tons more hours playing this than it says, because this glitchfest uninstalled itself and I had to go into my folders and manually start the game each time I wanted to play this junk.

From critically acclaimed studio CD Projekt Red comes Cyberpunk 2077, the most hollow, shameful, bland RPG to hit the market since Skyrim. The game which took nearly a decade to make rings the death toll for the concept of a mainstream first person RPG.

In a game touted as one in which your decisions matter and affect the game's world, it feels like nothing has changed and you have no say in the matter. One of the key components of an RPG is player customization, and in an age where games have much more room to work with, Cyberpunk 2077 fails spectacularly in this regard somehow. Your body is a preset height and muscle mass with only pre-made facial features rather than using the standard and well loved sliders seen in other games such as Fallout, the Souls series, etc. Basic features such as barbers do not exist in this world, and hairstyles are for the most part exclusive to male and female models. You will meet many citizens of Night City with painted and heavily customized cybernetic limbs. Your limbs on the other hand are uncustomizable aside from their function. You can't give your cybernetic prosthetics a new coat of paint, instead it is just the color of your character's skin. Saints Row somehow did player customization better than a game in 2020. Vehicles handle like hot garbage and swerve with the slightest budge. You can't even give them a new paint job either! Weapons customization also suffers from this with only sights, silencers, and damage mods being the customizable aspects of your gun. If you get a gun that you like due aesthetics or function be prepared to immediately replace it or dump all your scrap into upgrading it as this game suffers from looter-shooter mechanics seen in Borderlands and Destiny. Nearly every story in this game has to involve action of some kind rather than giving the player the option to use their charisma or intimidation to get out of a fight. Expect the quests to be hacking followed by knocking out or killing enemies and then getting a reward of some kind. The crime system in this game is a joke or just a 1-to-1 recreation of the UK's police force. If you kill a crowd of civilians and NCPD officers and then steal a car you just have to drive a few blocks away for them to forget you even exist. I get that a big thing in Cyberpunk settings is that crime is so rampant that police don't care or are too busy to do a thing but this is ridiculous, send a real challenge like some heavily armored cyborg or Dredd-esque unit after the player to make them feel like an actual threat. The city feels dead outside of mission areas, cars drive on a static pre-pathed route, 3 npc's walk down sidewalks which would be as busy as NYC streets in reality. Every part of the city feels near identical save for a few unique locations as if it was designed like a dull, drab Soviet apartment city rather than a metropolis in California. The game is an action game with very miniscule sprinkles of an RPG in it. A friend of mine remarked that it made SKYRIM seem like a complex, hard to master RPG when compared to this game. Every dialogue option pretty much boils down to you saying "yes". Lifepaths hardly add a twist to the game besides the intro and your lifepath specific way of saying "yes". Your cybernetic implants can be practically ignored if you have any experience with a first person shooter: stick to cover and pepper them with gunfire until they crumple. Your fancy blade arms or grenade launcher can be left to collect dust. The plot feels generic, and because some of you are masochists that probably still want to play it, I won't spoil it. I'll just say I felt no connection to it at all with how it thrusts you into everything. None of the endings feel interesting, and are near unbeatable with how poorly optimized the game is. The first three hours are incredible, but as the story slogs on you barely care, and the "cinematic” large end battles are a mess.

Go play New Vegas, Vampire the Masquerade, System Shock 2, and Deus Ex if you want a REAL first person rpg experience. The only people that defend this game are people justifying their purchases, people who don't know what an rpg is, and Redditors.

Normally I'm not a fan of 4 player co-op games but this game is just so damn good. The community is the best I've ever met, there's no politics or any other BS you'd find in other communities. The devs keep adding big updates that never disappoint and care about their playerbase. Go buy it or you're an Elf

The game is fun 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time is listening to some pathetic wehraboo from the flyover states try and explain to you why theocracies and genocide are okay. Then again if I lived in South Dakota, I'd hate people lucky enough to not be from there.

Imagine that really greasy guy with rat like features from high school. Now imagine he’s been cloned 500 times. Now imagine them all taking over a renaissance festival. That’s this game.
