While I stand by my original position of this game having launched in an unacceptably broken state, I can now say that it has been fixed enough for me to give it a review based on my game-play experience, and not on the fact that said game-play was completely inaccessible to me for several days before being fixed.

I played the first Helldivers quite a bit and absolutely loved it, so I was excited when the second one was confirmed. Unfortunately, if what you are expecting is a fully faithful sequel, you will be disappointed. This does NOT, however, mean that the game is bad.

From the time of writing, an entire faction is gone, stratagems and weapons cannot be individually upgraded, there are no vehicles, and the game is no longer top-down, which was enough to make me feel alienated for a while until I got used to the changes.

Teamwork is both more important than the first game, and much harder to achieve in the sequel now that the team is no longer physically forced to stick together like in the first game (due to the top-down gameplay), while also having limited revives.

From experience in difficulties ranging from 5-9, this has had both positive and negative effects on the individual players, based on their skill level. Experienced players and/or coordinated teams can split up and make missions more efficient, while less experienced or non-communicating teams can and will suffer from a lack of teamwork and being split up, causing them to deplete their reinforcements quickly.

Despite all this, Helldivers 2 was a truly enjoyable experience to me, despite feeling like I was playing an entirely different game, rather than a sequel. If you were holding off on buying it due to launch issues, I'd say you should give it a go now, and see if you like it.

After dumping over 1000 hours in this game and doing basically every activity there is to its respective endgame, the short version of my opinion on Elite Dangerous is as follows:

Buy if you are looking for a challenging but rewarding long-term game to play.

Avoid with the longest stick you have if you are looking for a quick game to have fun with in the short-term.

The game is very fun, but only after you've learned/mastered the controls and gone through a soul-melting grind that understandably drives away any casual players.

An incredibly good game, with huge variety of things to choose, from magic to dragon speech, weapons, potions, armor, items, etc, and much, much more, it would take me a lot more time to write a review reviewing everything this game has, but you already know it must be good, right?

10/10 one of the best games i have ever had
