I'm a Total War veteran thats been playing these games since the days of the first Shogun game, but no matter how hard I try to enjoy this one, no matter how many hours I pour into trying out every race or creating mods to improve gameplay to my liking, I just can't seem to enjoy it enough to get through even 1 full campaign. (Yeah I have a lot of hours on record but thats cumulative spread out over many years and mostly accounts for testing).

The unit variety and the different way each faction plays is great. I can't fault that part of the game. The problem is that gameplay is so prescribed. For every race you are told who your enemies are, when to attack them, which regions you should take and who you should not attack. Theres no strategy involved here in the campaigns. Its just endless turns of doing nothing but hitting the Next Turn button while you wait for buildings to finish and your faction's finances to grow. The battles themselves, when you finally get to them after many, many uneventful turns, are very fun but the campaign is just mind-numbingly boring on all modes.

This is a very well polished, very playable and very impressive game overall.

I'm not a massive fan of the Harry Potter universe, but I have watched most of the films, so I was unsure about whether I'd like this game or not. Having now played it for over 50 hours (and with still so much of the story left to do) I can safely say that it is one of the best games I've bought in recent years. The world-building is just amazing - you really feel like you're immersed in the Hogwarts world and its a pretty seamless world at that, with hardly any noticeable loading screens and so much to explore and do. You can literally hop onto your broom in the middle of a Hogwarts castle courtyard and soar up into the sky and out into the surrounding countryside, landing pretty much wherever you choose to. There are so few limits to your movement - the feeling of freedom is just spectacular. The combat is also exciting and engaging and the story telling is top notch.

My only criticism is that you can't play as an evil wizard. You can steal from people, use unforgivable curses left and right, dress like a dark wizard, extort people in quests... but you will never be considered a "dark wizard" or evil in the story. This is a great shame as I really wanted to embark on a dark path, but considering the complexity of the game I fully understand why they couldn't do this.

Still a 10/10 game for me. And I don't say that often.

No-one reads positive reviews, so I'll just say that its a very fun and extremely addictive game with a seemingly bright future ahead of it. Great game.

It feels like a poor man's Stranded Deep, but with desert instead of ocean, and there are a lot of similarities between the two. But this game has some pretty major cons in my opinion, the biggest of which being the incredibly small and restrictive inventory system, which forces you to constantly keep dropping items all the time in order to be able to craft new ones (you cannot craft anything without a spare inventory slot, and you cannot craft from items on the ground nearby).
The combat is also terrible, with virtually no feedback or visual keys to let you know if you've hit or not and very little in the way of a sense of enjoyment from the fight.
The game also suffers from a very basic and limited building system which doesn't lend itself to very much in the way of fun or creativity.
It feels like a game with a lot of promise, but it also feels like it needs a lot more polishing before it gets there.

Its like an interactive Tim Burton movie with some unfortunately boring and repetitive combat and "exploration" that really gets in the way of the enjoyment of the otherwise imaginative story. I'd describe it as a 3D platformer that you're better off just watching someone else play than actually buying and playing yourself.

Bad graphics, bad story, bad characters, too many long cutscenes and not very enjoyable to play. I don't understand how this can be so much worse than the first 2 games, but it is.

It doesn't feel like classic Frostpunk to me. It feels more like I'm a boss of a company trying to manage ungrateful, complaining unions all the time whilst trying to get a job done. The sense of the struggle to survive is lost in this DLC. It also feels needlessly over-complicated with all the different schematics you have to produce to just fulfill basic tasks and the map is very small and unexciting.

I played about half of Wasteland 2 years ago and didn't really get into it that much, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that Wasteland 3 is a much better incarnation of the series and one that I was actually keen to complete.

Wasteland 3 is a very good game with a great storyline punctuated by some genuinely difficult moral dilemmas with which you are forced to wrestle. I honestly found myself frequently weighing up the pros and cons of my decisions and agonizing over which path felt the most righteous to me, as few things in the game are totally black and white. Its rare when a game is able to achieve this, so bravo to the devs for that. The characters and voice acting are also superb - really top notch - and practically all of it was voiced. It made me actually care about the people I was dealing with. The jokes all hit their mark, as did the poignant moments.

In terms of criticisms, I would say that the power balancing was off by quite some way. I started the game barely being able to scratch most bullet-sponge enemies until about a third of the way through when I found some high end weaponry and suddenly I was one-shotting everyone I came across right up to the end. Also, while the map was big it was also largely empty, which felt a little pointless because there really aren't that many random encounters that occur while you're travelling around it.

Overall though, a great story thats extremely well acted, with some tough, meaningful decisions to be made and some very enjoyable gameplay.

This has the potential to be a good game but right now, in its current state, I wouldn't recommend it unless you're happy finding and reporting bugs that will hinder or wipe out your progress constantly. I will change my review to positive if development progresses well.

Some of the poor aspects of the game at present:
- Character speed and animation speed are both extremely slow. It feels like you're wading through quicksand all the time.
- Combat is very clunky. Its like Mount & Blade combat but much slower and less reactive.
- The building system has many problems still to iron out and they severely restrict the shape of any building you can construct. This ain't quite Conan Exiles - expect to see a lot of plain square boxes everywhere.
- The game is pure sandbox. Theres nothing to do except build a base and then fight either NPCs or players for no real reason. Some people like this, but I personally like the world to feel a bit more alive and storied. Its nice to have a purpose that isn't just "kill these people because they're there".
- Lots of the usual quality of life aspects are missing, such as being able to craft from items in chests, or being able to move any object you've placed down (currently you have to destroy everything and rebuild).
- The game is originally Chinese and the localization (translations) is quite poor.
- Quite a few of the crafting buildings don't currently work correctly, although it is early access so this should be fixed eventually.

As I say, it is EA so if the game improves and becomes fun to play I'll revise my review to positive.

Changed my review to negative in order to show my disdain for the new walker hardpoints system they intend to introduce in Season 5 in order to kill off any creativity in the game.

With this new system I can't see how the game will be worth playing anymore. Stay away.
