The hubris of man has reached an unprecedented and deeply disturbing level, and God has abandoned his children to writhe in the filth of their sins.

Great platform for board games, although I was unaware that anything other than Chess and Checkers existed prior to playing this and was very overwhelmed, hopefully the devs fix this insane difficulty curve

For the past few years, the JRPG genre has been seeing a dry spell, as many titles have sacrificed interesting characters and plot for fancy graphics and allowing several characters to fall into common and unwanted tropes. Additionally, many companies no longer localize their titles for the U.S. and Europe due to their belief that their games will not sell well enough in the other countries. For example, Square Enix's Final Fantasy series began as a JRPG true to its roots, instantly becoming a cult classic. In recent titles, however, there has been an influx of cinematics and high fidelity graphics, all of which are seemingly the trade-off for the qualities lost. Many things that defined the genre and made the stories and gameplay interesting were lost as JRPGs got more and more caught up in the "new and fresh" looks and styles in more modern titles.
Despite the apparent loss in quality in JRPGs, the genre is very much alive and well! Euro Truck Simulator 2 came out only a year ago, and yet it is proving itself to be a JRPG true to its elements. The story progression feels real and well-paced. The characters feel very human and never fall into any of the stereotypical roles filled by JRPG characters ( i.e. the edgy one, the tsundere one, the emotionless one, etc etc). This is in part due to the fantastic voice acting by great signature voices such as Nolan North, Troy Baker, and Danny Devito. I praise this, yet I would go as far to say that the game is just as good without any voice acting, but I digress. The gameplay in Euro Truck Simulator 2 blows every AAA title in recent years out of the water. So many puzzles and combat mechanics in the game are well refined and done so with the story in mind.
Overall, I could not recommend this game any more to any true die hard fan of the JRPG genre, or someone new to the genre. Everything from plot, to combat, and to graphics do not fail to impress me. This is definitely my game of the year, the decade, and maybe even the century. Kudos to you, SCS software, you Gods among men.
