If you only take one thing away from this review, let it be this: War of the Roses is filled with morons. The players, while overwhelmingly jobless, aren't even the least intelligent of the community. The developers couldn't figure out how to outsell Chivalry. I won't bother describing their stupidity... Just head to the forums. It's more of a see it to believe it kind of thing.

If you're an adult, don't even bother playing this crap...

My dislike comes from the following:
The community is the worst I've ever seen in a game.
Now, there are few players, most of them glitchers or cheaters.
There are few maps in this game, and they are buggy! (You can get inside the walls of buildings in many of them; this is useful as an archer where you can shoot out, but enemies can't see in...)
There are a few OP weapons that dominate the game.

If you're new, there's an absurd learning curve, and you'll get bullied and harrassed by those just above you endlessly.

DUEL SERVERS: I swear satan himself created these cesspools
The flow chart of trolling is as follows: (arrows indicate trolling, spawn killing, and more!)
bored level 60s (maxed) ---> everyone
clanned players ---> major server wide fights due to people calling their friends
low-level-clan (like GOH) players ---> new players
wall archers ---> everyone
admins ---> ban personal enemies
high-level-clan players & their backup ---> 40s, 50s, 60s
alts ---> everyone

Unless you're curious as to how a bunch of idiots can act when put in a 32 player lobby, you should pass on this one.

The graphics are bad, the units are simple, and online lags hard sometimes, but this is a perfect RTS. You must choose upgrades carefully and produce just the proper units at just the proper time. This isn't about flash, it's about strategy.

If you do purchase this, check out some guides first. Otherwise, you just might get pummled.

10/10 - a timeless masterpiece

It is the weekend or day off from work; you may implore yourself with the idea of some casual gaming... $6.24 for this medieval combat game with "very positive" reviews. Halt! Before you even think about it, I'd advise you to not purchase Chivalry. This game is riddled with bugs, and not the charming kind.

I'd say I have had success starting this game about 1/4th of the time, and once it's started you can't minimize it without a crash either. I wish this was the smallest of the problems.

Willing to put up with it? Combat is a joke. There is no directional blocking. You can swing in different seemingly directions, but all are blocked by a simple right click. You can only hold your block for a couple seconds though, or your tiny warrior arms will get too tired and have to let it go!

The customization is atrocious. You pick from a set of four classes and then choose a weapon. You can spend additional money to unlock different looking armors that act exactly the same as the class armors that you're stuck with in the first place.

I'll stick to Mount and Blade or War of the Roses.
