The very apex of tower defense games.

It's... ok.
It's not a bad story, nor is it terribly made (BY THE STANDARDS OF A RPG-MAKER GAME FROM THE 2000s) but that's basically all it is. It's not great either, just... there.
Unfortunately steam doesn't have an option for "meh" and the hype I've seen of this over so many years may have poisoned my view.

t`s honestly kind of impressive how poorly it runs on hardware that`s 10-20x the requirements.

Remember those flash games from 2006 that were trying to be deep?
This is basically that. It's slow but not for any particular good reason, it plays one scene and then just stops.
People apparently think it's oh so very deep and has oh so many details (it hardly has a dozen things in it, total).
You can't do things in a different order, you can't change anything, and before anyone comes with the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ explanation that it's supposed to show the futility of choices, it doesn't really lead to anything.
I saw it described as a Cheesy arthouse project and honestly that's a VERY benign interpretation.
It teases other scenes that may have been interesting, but you can't play any of them.

I've played less then 20m of this and it's crashed 3 times so far. I heard very good things about this game.
It was a console game. And here I am... on 2021... with a game that has "partial controller support" when it was originally a console game and it craqshes every 5m.

WHAT GARBAGE IS THIS?!?!!?!??!?!?! I Actually paid money for this ♥♥♥♥? When I could have downloaded a bottleg or even an emulator + bootleg?

Reasonably entertaining, but they hadn't quite gotten down what it took to have a truly great game. The writing was... good but not great, most of the mechanics ranged from ok to Nice, learning about the characters is somewhat engaging and learning about the world and the VERY deep lore is... really nice but there's nowhere near enough of it. It's basicall what one would expect of a first foray into Computer RPGs from a game with decades of Table Top RPG history and lore behind it

The other shadowrun games published after this learned all the lessons they needed though and basically fixed most if not all the issues this had.

EXTREMELY UNSTABLE GAME crashes at the slightest thought of doing anything (inclyuding playing it).

I bought it because I heard over and over that it was an improvement over the original, but so far it seems quite the opposite.

More mechanics are only an improvement when they enrich the gameplay and these don't seem to do it. Original game factions are now locked behind DLC, minor factions will ocupy any remotely usable system near your starting point in most games, making expansion slower and harder, the visuals took a weird turn, more resources were introduced, and it feels less and less like anything was actually learned from the original game other than how to milk DLC. Also, the soundtrack and sound effects are not near as good as the original.

Looks like metal slug, plays like someone took the control scheme from Resident Evil four on PC and said: Let's make it worse.

Even after 20+ hours of play it's not intuitive or second nature in the slightest, rather, it is still annoying as all hell. The obstacles, items and enemies are placed in ways to screw people that didn't know they were there waaaaaaaaay too often, because this is not a game that warrants caution or careful play, especially on timed missions.
Imagine you have a huge map and the boss you need to kill (then on the next mission capture) is supposed to show somewhere in that map, you have a time limit, and limited resources, and more importantly, limited patience.

Controller is required to play unless you are am ambidextroux madman with spiders for hands,

Plenty of side objectives that would make for cool stuff, but the controls are absolute garbage, which would make it bad enough on it's own, but after a couple of missions things get VERY repetitive. It's a shame to say the beta was better than the final product but so many things feel like they've been pushed into this game that it is obvious the devs didn't care about something as simple and elemental to gaming as making it enjoyable to control your character.

Editing because after this many years I finally tried it with a controller: it's just as bad. Who makes shooting non-rebindable to X???

Very dated graphics, unispired dialogue, poor story telling, no zooming in or out, no pause button, no fast forward.
Think a 3D tower defense flash game that seems to honestly believe it has an interesting story.
The mechanics are nothing to write home about (and having the enemies along the path has been done to exaustion in on-the-rails-shooting games), the "modules" are bland and the upgrades are uninteresting for the most part (nevermid rotating the turret so that it covers another angle is an upgrade) The enemies are also amazing at grabbing your attention since they're essentially: flies, pebbles and other ships biult not unlike yours.
It's relatively slow paced after positioning the first few towers and before the final wave (so surprising!) and did I mention there's no zoom?
It feels like an attempt at mobile gaming (and the way the currecncy system works makes it seem like it was designed for microtransactions that were scrapped in this version).
Oh, and the cheesy-yet-not-cheesy-enough -to-be-funny voice acting is another thing to suffer through.
Avoid if possible.
