ps: ssh, you can bypass using steam -dev steam://open/friends
or opening a steam:// url in a browser - steam://open/friends

xdg-open steam://open/friends
You can also open other Steam windows this way, like the main Steam window:
xdg-open steam://open/games
Useful if you aren't running Unity and don't have the jumplists or whatever they're called to access the different Steam windows.
