Steam really needs to introduce a "It's complicated" recommendation, rather than just a "Yes" or "No".
TL;DR - This game has some high highs, but some of the lowest lows, it's the meth of mecha games.

If you were to score this game purely on its battle system, then it is one of the best Gundam games ever made, hell I'd say it's one of the best deathmatch mecha games, but that's surprisingly a very small genre. The weight of the mobile suits is perfect, being weighty while still giving you enough control to juke and swerve around, they're as good to control as they are to take down. Most other Gundam games go for the fast-paced "style over substance" approach, smoother movement and every mobile suit is like a New Type on crack. Those are fun in their own right, but when I think of the UC, this game and Zeonic Front capture the feel of the rigid and tank like mobile suits perfectly.

But if this game were just the battle system, it wouldn't have a :Mostly Negative" review score. Everything surrounding the game itself (bloated upgrade system, horrible matchmaking, horrendously pay2win) is abysmal. The support for this game is awful, Bamco doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about their Japanese players, and that means they doubly don't care about the people outside of Japan. Even on the PS4 the support was nonexistent. I don't count the occasional free suits or coins, that's not what I'm talking about. They refuse to fix the servers, they refuse to make matchmaking actually work (don't even get me started on group sortie), and they continuously restrict the game more and more with each update, even though nobody is asking them to do that. It's like playing a game that has an online infrastructure conceived in the PS2 era.

I was so excited for this to finally come to PC, thinking that they would fix all of this, but I knew deep down that this would be a half-hearted effort. And we all know Bamco is going to learn the wrong lesson from all of this, they're going to see that review score and think "PEOPLE HATE GUNDAM OH NOOOOOO", and refuse to make more Gundam games, or port them to the West. ♥♥♥♥ them, they've got me by the balls anyway, I still come back to this game, even with AC 6 being out and having a ranked mode now, I keep crawling back, because I'm an abused addict who knows better but can't help myself.

You know those bumper stickers, the ones with the stick figure guy with sunglasses, standing next to the sun with his dog, "Life is good." written under them?

This game made me understand that, yeah.

This game is amazing, it manages to capture the primal fear which all PC owners felt through the 98/XP era:

European Shareware Video Games.

Really enjoying the game, it's a perfect throwback to the golden age of survival horror games, but there's just one problem. The game is a bit buggy, I unfortunately had to put it down because of a specific puzzle, where the code for the pulse meter puzzle would not work no matter what combination I tried as well as reloading my save multiple times. I saw that other people had the same issue, and that apparently a fix for the bug had been released, but alas I'm still stuck with this issue, and I bought the game *after* the fix was released. I hope this review doesn't deter you from buying this game, because it really is a fun experience for those who are into this kind of thing, but since it's a small team, there's bound to be bugs, and they can't get to them all.

Early Access Review
I might be jumping the gun here, but wow, I just want to say that I'm happy that this game even happened, and for it to be actually good is another joy entirely. To think Konami would A) Make a sequel to GetsuFumaDen, and B) release it in the west is very unlike them. It seems like the team behind this doesn't have much of an online presence, which had me worried, but if this is what's they're pushing out, I think we're in good hands. I also think the Early Access approach was smart, and if done right will build a good connection with the community, which is also unheard of from Konami lol. Here's to hoping this game turns out to be something special, it'd be really nice to play a Konami game and not have to remember the good ol' days.

Only buy this game when it's on sale, it is NOT worth the price, but if you can pick it up cheap, like right now it's 16 bucks, get it, it's a fun game, with a big roster.

In the hours I've spent even before this account, TF2 will always be my favorite fps, there was the best of times, there was the worst of times. Then, there was the time of kicking ass!
