Even though most reviews applaud the emotional choices you have to make at times, I failed to recognize any of these situations. The characters feel like cardboard plates to me. The only personality can be found in their character cards, which you barely read. The lines they speak are few and repetitive, as well as not reflecting their 'personality'. As the characters feel like mindless robots under the control of my mouse, I felt absolutely no sympathy when one of my survivors died on day 14, nor do I feel any compassion for any of the other remaining survivors in 'loot' houses. It may just be me, but somehow the game doesn't trigger my 'feels' knob.

The slow pace of the game doesn't help either in getting me exited. Clearing rubble before obtaining a shovel takes enough time to get a cup of coffee IRL. The trips back to the exit and the subsequent cut scenes are long enough for me to take out my phone and browse reddit for a good minute or so.

GOod things about the game? I suppose that the art and music are quite fitting to the theme at first, but I was quickly desensitized to them and muted the music. After a while the idea of being in a war slipped my mind and I felt I was playing a grinding game to obtain just 5 items: Wood, parts, components, meat and water. You don't need more. The additional items just come as a bonus when grinding for the essentials, or as a result of trade. The complexity of the game is very low, as it doesn't really excite my to play any further. Some days, were so useless, I came back from the night, put them in bed, and pressed "End day". I couldn't be bothered by anything else. If only you could send multiple scavengers a night, so it might be worthwhile to accommodate more people whose only purpose is to eat your food.

In conclusion, nice music and art style for the first hour or so, then becomes repetitive and tedious to play. Do yourself a favor and buy Don't Starve (which even has a multiplayer!)
