Solid platformer-adventure game with a (mostly) reasonable difficulty curve. There are a couple tweaks in the levels I'd make here and there, but my two main complaints are:
1. The final boss does not give many opportunities to deal damage. This combined with the substantial HP made it feel a little drawn-out and frustrating.

2. The gimmick in the ice world where you begin "freezing" if you don't get to a fire in time was cool, but it also made the screen gradually darker until it was a little hard to see/focus on anything.

Still, both of these are rather minor cons to an otherwise great game. The music is pretty good too.

For people who haven't gotten the original game, I think this is probably fine to purchase, but for those who already have the original, I don't think there's enough new content here to warrant the price tag. There are [minor spoilers ahead] a couple new major endings, but most of the new stuff is simply the old game with minor differences. On top of that they removed saving and loading, as well as some neat easter eggs . I think this would have worked better as a DLC of the original game, so most people aren't paying for the same content twice.

A very cool 20-30 minute experience where you interact with the museum's "exhibits" which portray the dimension of time as a dimension of space, and see how the artist created these exhibits in real life. My main critique is that it's a bit hard on the computer -- I personally didn't experience any drops in FPS but others will probably have trouble running this.

Great if you like cryptic "riddle" puzzles (but not so cryptic that they leave you confused) and a dream-like world. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and soundscape in this one. However, I wish the endings were more fleshed out, and that there was less RNG. Specifically: a certain ending is based on a random occurrence -- although RNG helps vary players' experiences, I feel sad that so many people missed out on this ending. An overall enjoyable experience!

P.S. If you plan to go for multiple endings, use the save system. It will help avoid repeating certain steps.

Imagine going through your shopping list except with each item you get the rules of logic and society collapse just a bit more. Combine that with Postal Dude's witty dialogue and you have yourself a game that's not quite like anything else. It's a refreshing experience to say the least. I'd say it's worth the full price but if you're unsure, this typically goes on a 90% sale.

You ever try to read a really good book but sometimes you get a paper cut? That was my experience with this game. Going through an immersive, complex and engaging story but about every hour running into something that distracts you from the experience. Sometimes the camera would give an annoying angles, sometimes the enemy gets in an awkward spot, etc. The list isn't long but has reasons I'm a little disappointed the developers overlooked.

Either way, if you want closure to the story, to unravel the secrets behind the characters and their motives in this game, you'll have to keep pushing forward -- and I'm glad I did. I got to experience the full story (ngl though I had to read into the lore online afterwards to get a full appreciation of it) but also feel as if the execution could have been significantly better. The paper cuts haven't necessarily ruined the experience, but have still deterred from it. At least the book looks really nice (most of the time) and sounds really great too. I think the pros outweigh the cons, but I'm still saddened by the fact the game seems unpolished (not unfinished, just unpolished).

TLDR: If you enjoyed previous Drakengard/Nier games and like their lore, you'll almost certainly like this game. If you're in it for fighting machines, you'll probably like this game. Try to get it at a discount though.

Short game, but takes a few playthroughs to encompass the entire story (assuming you aren't extremely meticulous the first time around).

Otherwise, enjoyed the story (bit predictable), but wait for the sales. I got it for four dollars which is fair enough, but I can see why people would be outraged at the original price.
