Cheap, simple and very fun. What else can you ask for?

Not for everyone, but if you like rpg/strategy games then this one is for you. Feature complete & no hidden bs that plague the industry nowadays. Simply put the game is just fun to play. Larian Studios deserve all the love and support coming their way

I love a good strategy game and don't get me wrong hoi 4 is pretty entertaining. However I have 2 MAJOR gripes with it:
1) You can hardly call the AI "intelligent". All it can do well is spam crappy units and send them to certain death. You get to a point where you start feeling bad at these dreadful naval invasion attempts
2) More than half the game is locked behind DLCs. Truly a Paradox special at this point, it's so frustrating to spend 45€ for DLCs and still have most nations with generic boring focus trees

A decent game that could have been great if the company behind it was less greedy

If you enjoy min-maxing, trial and error & some grind this is a game for you.

A more in depth look at Loop Hero:
  • Min-maxing: The whole premise of the game is to optimally build your hero so he can beat his enemies and farm resources. Bad builds will fail after a few loops while good builds will loop forever. Finding what works and what doesn't is a satisfying process to me, but it can also feel somewhat restrictive
  • Trial and error: There are plenty of unexpected interactions between certain tiles/terrain cards that are going to screw your run over the first time you encounter them. With that being said finding out how certain things interact with one another and planning accordingly is quite fun
  • Grinding: There's definitely some grind in this game where you will need to do some runs in order to just farm items or test how things work. I don't consider the grinding to be excessive as I was able to beat the game in about 27 hours and probably a maximum of 10 hours was me simply resource farming

The only 'issue" I have with Loop Hero is that I don't see myself coming back to it once I am done with my achievement runs. Unfortunately once you have optimised your strategy the game isn't all that challenging making in way less replayable in the long run (compared to something like StS for example). However for the 15€ asking price that isn't really that big of a problem

The main issue that I have with Fall Guys is that you barely interact with the other players, meaning you end up doing the same thing over and over again.

The Cathedral is so poorly designed that I think 10% of my play time is trying to navigate this godforsaken area. Apart from the terrible map designs, the game has this bad habit of constantly placing enemies around corners/ledges etc. very cheesy and not fun to traverse.
Speaking of not fun there's this one specific boss fight that is placed so far away from the closest spawn location that you end up having to walk a good 2 mins (no combat involved, just walking from point A to point B), I really can't understand why that decision was made when it's so simple to place a camp closer to the boss. It's not like you are fighting any enemies along the path anyway.
Another gripe I have with this game is that the music & story are hardly anything to write home about. I can't say that any of the tracks really stood out to me (the main theme is the only memorable one) and the story has some very "anime" moments. Don't get me wrong I am a weeb and the anime vibe is a reason that I decided to play this game, but there were moments were I would catch myself eye rolling with the dialogue.

The game has it's strengths, notably the character customization, a nice variety of builds to experiment & some pretty fun boss fights to get good at.

If you are into the "souls-like" genre, you should give this a shot, but definitely wait for a sale as the 50€ asking price is a bit too expensive. Also stay away from the DLCs
