Great game. The open world in this game is very well made, every part of it has something for you to do. Quests and rumours (pretty much also just quests) will nicely take you around the map without forcing you to do anything in particular. You can really choose your own adventure. Choose where you go, who you fight with, the order of boss battles. At first the open world can feel overwhelming with so much to do and what seems like lots of platforming to do, but that goes away in the first few hours thanks to such great map design.

The fighting system is similar to everyother turn-based monster fighting game but differs from pokemon and the like with how its types interact with eachother. Instead of simple water does 2x damage to fire, it works on a system of buffs and debuffs where water would "extinguish" the attack stats of fire, amongst other cool type interactions like lightning turning an earth type into a glass type. I'd say the fighting is pretty similar to monster keeper, however more pokemon-like, so if you liked it in monster keeper or are looking for a more advanced battle system then pokemon this one is good.

Monster design is fun and unique. Boss battles are especially cool because each one has a dramatically different design. The fusions are nice, although somewhat derivative of their base designs (there are >14000 of them so still lots of variety).

Story is lighthearted and focused on the friendships you make with other characters while you progress through the mainline by defeating bosses and getting little bits of the bigger picture. In terms of the individual partners and friendship story lines, the writing is well done and the little interactions you make throughout the game adds just a little more spice and excitement to resting your monsters (which you do a billion times in monster fighting games). It's a big improvement to the soullessness of pokemon games.

Definitely try this game if you want a fun open-world monster taming game.

Continually add a few buttons in the game that cost >$20. I'm getting really tired of Paradox's DLC policy and the lack of actual change these expensive DLC's bring.

These songs make feel like such a beast.

This game is quite hard but still really fun.
