Well, maybe we don't have a Citizen Kane of video games, but we do have a Plan 9 of Outer Space of video games! This game is so bad its good!

Nope.

The Sun at Night is worth playing for the story alone. The world and characters are nicely done. The alternative history setting is great. Other parts of the game are not so wonderful though. Art is all over the place: the propaganda posters and most of the environment art is great, while characters, monsters and character portraits leave much to be desired. As do animation, combat, platforming, enemy AI and bosses.
But! Despite of the flaws I really enjoyed the game. Levels are enormous and for the most part are really fun to explore. Laika is adorable and character customization system is surprisingly good. I wish the devs would go full metroidvania with this though and tie exploration to various upgrades of Laika's suit.
I shall definitely be looking forward for the sequel.

Maybe there is a good game behind this ugly mask of atrocious artwork and interface design, i can't tell. Couldn't make myself play it.

Update: Apparently, ugly graphics isn't enough to stop me from playing a game that gives me poorly drawn swords with marginally better numbers on them and then throws slightly stronger monsters at me and OH MY GOD! why am I still playing this game?
It does scratch that "kill mobs - grab loot - level up - kill more mobs" itch and i have to confess the later parts of the game may be challenging if you're not careful with your build. Still I can't recommend buying this game at full price because production value is lower than in some free games.

This game is largely not worth any time or money.
