Early Access Review
Ergh. Bahk! Ermahgerd. Between the mixed emotions of unrivaled superiority and fit-inducing rage I am feeling towards my roommates as a result of this game, I've managed a few breaths to write this review.

As a seeming homage to SSB, this platform brawler delivers lots of wonderful couch-seated gamepad-smashing fun. There are functional online modes with free-for-all 4-player and a ranked 1v1. I never experienced any lag being in New England (close enough to Atlanta, GA I guess). Certainly more servers will arise as people get their hands on this one.

Many mechanics are similar to your favorite brawler, SSB, but with some tweaks. The weapons system gives each character their specific weapons and there are fewer items overall. The simplified approach makes weapons worth having in the game and actually worth picking up. It also makes the game much cleaner and quicker with more overall focus towards play style.

The brawlball and bombsketball game modes offer an excellent change of pace if you (for some alien reason) get tired of beating on your friends all day.

Get some friends, get some gamepads, a big TV, your favorite chips and soda and go to town. Even laptop to TV is fine, I'm running no problems on my 2010 macbook pro.

Brawhalla is FTP, which is completely ridiculous to me. I would have paid $5 for this. Probably $10 or $15. The in-game purchases are entirely superficial as only skins for your favorite characters or weapons. So, w/e. ignore them if you must. but once you realize how great this game is, spend some money on something and tip your hat to the Devs. After I get some more practce in, you may find me as Ada or Hattori, probably with an added skin.

Now stop reading and start brawling!
