Fantastic Game, Even With Its Certain Problems

20€ seems like like a bit of an upwards price for this game but it's still within the realm of reasonable. I played this game for 13,5h, part of that time spent AFK; That's roughly 1,50€ per hour. If you, who enjoy a good story, ever see this game on sale, get it quick.

I had a great time playing this game. The mystery, the puzzles, the feelings... It all became one very enjoyable experience. I can list quite a few problems with this game but I still want to say that the game as a whole was fantastic. Perhaps it was the charming environment of the late 19th century England. Perhaps it was Sherlock Holmes. Perhaps it was the developers. Perhaps it was all that but it did make the game greatly enjoyable.

Positive:
  • Environment; It it almost the end of 19th century, and London is looking great. There's an odd sense of "colour" even in the bleak environments.
  • Mystery; The questions that keep popping up keep racking up your brains thorough the game. Or maybe I'm just stupid which could likely be the case.
  • Plot; The twists and turns of the plot had me riding on a rollercoaster. Does that make any sense to you?
  • Deduction; You won't have to point out who the criminal is - Holmes does that. You do get to do some of the deductions that lead to the solution though.
  • Puzzles; Not every puzzle was my favourite but I must commend the developers for their diversity. (It's possible to skip many of the puzzles but you won't get an achievement then)
  • Voices of Holmes and Watson; I really don't want to change those for anything.
  • Toby; Made my day.

Neutral:
  • Music; I'm not sure what to say about this. The music was pretty nice but it didn't play a particularly active role in the story. It didn't always respond to the changed situation. Maybe it's a good thing, or maybe it could be better.
  • Not Much Action; This is mainly a story-oriented game. It doesn't have that much action. I like it because you can just casually play this game. If you don't like fighting, you can feel relieved with this game.

Negative:
  • Lack of Immersion by Voice Actors; Very often thorough the game, the voice actors have glaring problems with immersing themselves in the situation. Watson was one of them but I wouldn't replace him.
  • Controls/Puzzles; The controls weren't well designed for certain puzzles - or maybe it's the other way around. I got stuck because I had to look upwards to see the key element to the problem but I couldn't turn the camera enough.
  • Hidden Object; Prepare for a little amount of frustration as you look for objects needed for puzzles.

EDIT: I forgot to mention; If you get a technical problem where you can't launch the game from Steam, make sure you're running Steam as an administrator. You have to shut down Steam program completely, so that it's not running on the background, and then restart it as an administrator.
