Crysis 2 Remastered is a retrofitted version of the original sci-fi fps game made back in 2011 by Crytek. The game's events are set 3 years after the first game in New York, where the aliens from before have brought the city to It's knees with a virus that makes humans suffer through intense pain of tissue melting and eventually turning into a puddle of jello(literally). In response to this, a private military organization named C.E.L.L is founded to clean the streets of the infected and seek global domination. Prophet, the only (supposed)surviving member of Raptor team, returns to New York to receive the new Nanosuit 2.0, a alien exoskeleton made to turn the tides of battle to his favor and in hope to defeat the aliens. The mission goes AWRY as Prophet contracts the virus, to which he gives the Nanosuit 2.0 to a dying US Marine soldier named Alcatraz, sent on a mission to evacuate a scientist of great importance. Alcatraz, barely clinging to life from his injuries, is given a second chance by the Nanosuit to finish what Prophet began.

Crysis 2 is, in my opinion, the greatest game in the franchise. The game's approach to the FPS genre is very unique with the introduction to the Nanosuit, which is a sophisticated piece of hardware reverse engineered from the aliens technology, able to go invincible with the newly improved Armor mode, being as quiet as a ninja in Cloak Mode, being so strong to send a door flying away and jumping 3x times your own height with no effort with Power Mode. You are able to designate enemies and items of importance with your visor from a safe distance, strategizing before executing. The Nanosuit 2.0 is a literal bioweapon as it is able to turn the virus against their creators with a jump into the virus spreading machine and capable of making a vaccine for it. Those are only some of the important features. The rest are as immersive as the main ones such as being a life support machine, seen in the case of Alcatraz as he is a literal corpse walking but the suit keeps him alive and healthy. I absolutely love the Nanosuit 2.0, they did a phenomenal job with the deep lore of it and even explaining how the features are even possible. The characters ingame are also full of lore and memorable with each one having their own personality and background. The soundtrack is composed by Hans Zimmer, as he is famous for his production of masterwork soundtracks such as from Gladiator movie, Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean and countless more films and games, with Crysis 2 being no exception. The gameplay is made in the 'hit and run' style, as the Nanosuit 2.0 for It's abilities consumes It's limited energy pool so It's best to designate enemies with the visor before you go in as the enemies can tear you to shreds. The AI, good but not the best, have a few unique strategies, they will call out your location and try to bring you out of cover with grenades, have a specialized weapon in order to drain your energy bar and leave you defenseless and will work in groups in order to bring you down. As for difficulty settings, the game is not hard if you use your visor in order to designate enemies, the easiest difficulty is basically a walk in the park with the hardest killing you from a couple of bullets. For the duration of the game, it is about 8-10 hours long, depending on your difficulty and curiosity for lore.

Now, as for the remastered part, I have to criticize the developers for the same mistake as they did in the first remaster. While they did include the same price for the original and remaster, the remaster is basically a graphical overhaul mod. It doesn't bring anything new to the table and while the game looks better, the bugs and stupid AI are not adressed which I think really brings down the rating. I did experience a lot more bugs on this version than I did in the original. Multiplayer option doesn't exist anymore, no new missions or weapons, the animations are as clumsy as they were in 2011 and the game doesn't run as well it did before on older hardware. Sad.

Crysis 2 is a really great game, the lore is very sophisticated and worth every second of reading, the memorable characters that I really enjoy every walkthrough, unique gameplay with endless opportunities and the fun of intense challenges the game has to offer makes this game my favorite in the franchise. I am disappointed with the remaster but I am thrilled to experience this game once again.
