The best LOTR game, in my opinion. While most games use the characters and shoehorn them into old styles of games, this narrative is original and yet feels exactly like the Tolkien world of Middle Earth.

Great game, loved the novelty of live-action. The abilities to call the chief, see tips, and even "cheat" if you get too stuck, made the game very user-friendly and mitigated the frustration that is commonly felt with these games. The acting was perfectly well done, really overdone for comedic effect which kept the game lively and entertaining. There are a few criticisms: several areas in the game are only useful to visit a few times, and I would have liked to have every space utilized more effectively. In fact, the game noticeably is missing any extras, which it should have been possible to film; just a few groups havin dinner in the pub perhaps to justify the murmur of conversation. One character, in fact, you only have a single conversation with and then disappears. This is toward the end of the game, and it makes me think that the conclusion was very rushed. You continue finding contradictions, and then suddenly you more or less stumble into the end of the game. I'd like to have had to use more of a detective method to drive home the climax. Maybe there could have been a kind of lightning round where you have to ask about the right things quickly enough to arrive at the necessary solution. I don't know, but there should have been something different to signify an exciting ending.
The game is a real trailblazer, and I hope that more of these are produced. Its few flaws can be overlooked for the originality of the medium. Fantastic game. If there is a sequel, I will look forward to it.

Big disappointment. Early on I was enjoying the hokey old-fashioned ghosty atmosphere, but towards the end the game became all puzzles that were without any enjoyment value at all. One long part of the game actually has you looking through a library for books. Seriously, what could be more boring than looking through a library for books... on a computer game? Who in the world thought that would be a good idea? Then right at the end there was a flaw in my inventory that prevented me from going any further, so that much of my effort was ultimately wasted. Instead I watched the end of it on youtube, and really, the end is just awful. You may as well have the main character wake up and "it was all just a dream." It's that bad. There's no conclusion whatsoever. The first half of this game is decent, the rest is just painful.
