I'm such an amazing person that I get requests from very friendly robots. If your profile looks shady or I don't know why you're adding me, please refrain from doing so in the first place.

Welcome to my profile

As you might deduce from the piece of text at the top of this page, entirely random friend requests are likely to be shot down. If you want to test your luck, then go right ahead. If the occasion is with you and my mood is above average for the day, your request has an estimated 36% chance of being accepted. If your profile is of a level above 5 and is not entirely devoid of text, that percentage rises to a solid 47%. Those are fairly good odds if I can say so myself.

If I have accepted the request, I expect you to have sent it for a reason. Half-assed justifications such as "I want to increase my friend count!" , or "Please buy me this game!" will result in the immediate termination of our acquaintance. As will you having other ulterior motives for adding me or being generally bothersome. Also try to understand that my status being set to anything but online does, in fact, signify that I am currently occupied with something else.

About me

I can be considered an online vagabond, drifting aimlessly from site to site. My primary hobbies consist of reading, writing, manga, and anime. [myanimelist.net] I am a literature student and an aspiring author who is also self-studying Japanese.

As mentioned, I really enjoy writing and have been working on a low fantasy novel for the past six years. Not much of that time has been spent actually writing though, but I have built an expansive world with characters that amounts to over thirty almost autistically organised google documents. Unfortunately, I am dreadful at allotting the time necessary to make significant progress on the novel itself, which means that I’m stuck in a repetitive cycle of rewriting things that I’m not pleased with while fleshing out the early chapters. What this means is that these early chapters only improve, the later chapters stay as they are, and the planned out chapters stay unwritten. At this pace I may finish it in another twenty years.

When it comes to music, I almost exclusively listen to Japanese tunes. Apart from being vocal masterpieces, the reason is that it also helps me with my studies of the language. To be more specific, I listen mainly to im@s, and have done so since mid-2016. This is of course disregarding the music I have no control over, such as from radios outside or that which is played by my friends.

Video games / Fire Emblem

Nowadays, I find it hard to devote a lot of time into a single thing and thus don’t play games as much as I used to. My genre preferences however tend to lie with JRPGs and VNs, for similar reasons as to why I listen to Japanese music, but regarding the former I’ve become a bit jaded through playing so many of them. The games I enjoy are traditionally Nintendo. Ace Attorney, Pokémon, Professor Layton, Dragon Quest, etc.

My favourite game series is Fire Emblem, and it has been that way since 2005. The games in the series which I like the most are the ones that are designed as very tight and linear challenges, with the story woven directly into the gameplay. Due to this, FE9/10 are amongst my favourite games in that they are not only incredibly well crafted experiences, but also pay homage to Kaga and his vision of the series through its inclusion of aspects that hadn’t been seen since FE5. Speaking of FE5, it is also one of my favourites as a lot of the great mechanics it implements are used to their full extent. Kaga showed a great understanding of what makes the Fire Emblem games good in the first place, and evolved and refined these aspects to create good and varied content for what ended up being his last FE game. The gameplay portion of Conquest is also something I like a lot. On the other hand, Awakening, Gaiden (+Echoes), Revelation, and to a certain extent Sacred Stones are the ones I like the least. The 3DS era especially stands out negatively for me. The games which have supports as the main focus, include avatars, face petting, pairup, a marriage system which is nothing less than insulting to its FE4 iteration, and are designed around grinding out every situation instead of containing strict and linear challenges all fall under this banner. These games have the very real issue of loosening up the belt and giving players too much freedom in a game where resource management and constant gameplay decisions should make up the bulk of the experience. Adding the option to grind endlessly without any repercussion simply does not belong in a Fire Emblem game, as it goes against the core game design. Even then, I'm happy to say that Three Houses turned out to be the best FE we've gotten since Conquest. This is primarily because of the character interactions actually having meaning and depth again, and the systems working in tandem with the story for the first time in ages. It's not the best of the lot, but I'm far more positive looking forward now than I were after Awakening.

Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to hear encouragement of that sort when a lack of motivation constantly looms over me. Rest assured that I'll let you know if the destined day ever arrives!
