When I first purchased Elemental way back years ago, I had every hope it would make for a great table top RPG platform as well as the regular strategy game it was designed to be. When I got my copy I was able to see what could be, but it was still an “alpha” game… So I let it go, kept checking the progress and changes overtime, but nothing got my attention. Then along came 1.7 update and much of what I read I liked so I purchase Legendary Heroes.

A BIG WOW!

I am so happy the developers never gave up. This is very much what they had promised back when they were making the first Elemental. There is still room for improvement (lots of potential for growth and expansion), but the main concept is all there!

So, soon as they let us make scenarios using the “workshop”, a custom monster toolset (like the spell toolset) and add a hot seat feature to the game it will appeal to many D&D table top players like myself.

I love the way the mechanics and AI have developed and evolved/improved, I love the customization aspect so, so, so, very much. Changing gear is actually visible in game play, love the way cities can level as well as almost everything else, we just need equipment to level as well (hopes).

The artwork is splendid. I have loved the art from day one! So perfect for this kind of game, the way the story is presented through text and that unique artwork makes me feel like I am actually reading a D&D campaign and I can get my fiends involved (rolling dice to make decisions, character customization, etc.) we played all night as if we were playing table top, and we never once looked at the time, it was great fun, different, but not so different that it did not work. It is thanks to the freedom to customize just about everything that makes this game so rewarding and usable as a tool for a good old fashion table top game. If you have an imagination and fun friends to play with give this a try. ( mind you we are doing this without hot seat or multiplayer, image if we had that!)

In short I am very happy that my bias for DLC’s went away almost instantly, “sell me as many DLC's for this game as you want!" if they are useful and enhances the game like the current DLC’s. If you love fantasy strategy games give this version of the game a try, you will love it more and more every turn you take, there is something different and new for your imagination to create in good fun! Recommend!
