Absolutely lovely metroidvania, certainly up there with the greats. You can feel how much love and care the developers have put into this game, it is filled to the brim with details and fun interactions a lot of players will completely miss in their playthroughs. Wholehearted recommendation :)

GOTY 2021 and one of the best games I've played in my life. I just can't call this gem a "mod" or "expansion", it is a full-fledged HUGE game, easily beating most paid games in quantity and quality . And its actually better than the original Gothic 1/2. I enjoyed every second of it and will replay it later with a different build and faction.

If you are a fan of Gothic, chances are you've already beaten it or are playing right now, but if you've never played Gothic before and enjoy a great RPG - I can't recommend it enough. Also it's a good way to start playing through Gothic series, since this game is a prequel to Gothic 1 in terms of story.

This game has a lot of drawbacks and its not the same King's Bounty that you would expect from Katauri Interactive. But it's certainly has its charm and, most importantly — very engaging and challenging battle system.

Cons:
- RPG element (exploration, open world, quests) is outdated
- Moving around the world is tedious and takes a lot of time, horse is an uncontrollable mess
- Awful voice acting (both russian and english)
- Writing is mediocre
- Same 2 or 3 models for males and females (remember The Witcher 1?)
- Interface is designed for consoles and treats KB+M as a second class citizen
- Exploration music is ok, but it is bugged — sometimes just stops abruptly and never plays again
- Only one battle theme, prepare to listen "catchy" drums track for every 70+ battles

All of that is overshadowed by amazing battles. Its just that good and engaging, and keeps the challenge all the way to the final boss. If you want an extra challenge — play Katherine (mage).
Also the game is quite lengthy, with plenty of side quests which can be resolved in 2 different ways (power/cunning or order/anarchy, and the choice is tied to your skills progression).

Overall, if you enjoy TBS games — there is fun to be had here

Game is filled with extremely easy and boring battles, every encounter is bland and takes too much time cause animations are slow even on 200% animation speed increase. Absolutely no tactical depth, every battle is just a huge waste of time. Maybe with patches they'll reduce encounters and make them more interesting (verticality, units that have actual global range, zone of control etc), but I really doubt it.
Just play King's Bounty 2 instead, which has MUCH MORE challenging and interesting, and most importantly, handcrafted battles than this cluster♥♥♥♥.
