A very pleasant idle game with some story building in it and very low maintenance. I don't find idle games to be very stimulating for me since a lot of the more modern ones generally want a lot of constant interaction, but Settlemoon strikes well as being something I can interact with for a few minutes in a short burst, see what has happened since I last opened the game (the game does not *need* to be open to continue progressing), and collect coins/restock shops/maybe build something new.

The world building in the game is fun and digs into the MMO tropes that I really enjoy, and the accompanying art is just superb as well. It strikes a balance between comforting familiarity and melancholic nostalgia.

Easily worth it at full price, nevermind a discount, but I can't really speak for what sort of audience this game is for. It's not a game where you do a lot in each session while waiting for more adventurers to show up from town and do quests you post, but it is a little closer to managing a fish tank and just watching things do their thing and adding new fixtures every now and then. There is no fail-state or softlock, so I never feel compelled outside of my own desires to check in on the town every now and then.

Solid game from a small devoloper, big love for getting to experience this game.

A very alright game, hindered mostly by the bizarre lighting engine that makes every surface extremely bright and glowy at varying angles that makes it difficult for my specific visual impairment. A lot of key items are small, and the act of just moving causes a lot of rooms to reflect light in weird ways making me have to constantly pause to see where the flickering pick-ups are.

Besides that and one nightmarish backtracking mission closer to the end of the game that I think was through no fault by my own, I really enjoyed the System Shock remake! As someone who doesn't play or read much sci-fi fiction, I found exploring all the different parts of the station to be really exciting, even if some places felt more barren than others.

Combat was satisfying with primarily firearms feeling good to use, while melee weapons are like swinging pool noodles with very little audio feedback.

Not really much else to say that isn't touching upon spoilers. I was a solid Alright game that I can recommend *maybe* on a discount rather than full price.

Easily one of the best turn-based RPG's I've played in ages with a very fun story and side-stories. I've been falling off the wagon with a lot of turn-based RPG's, losing interest over the decades, but this one hits such a soft spot with me, I can't help but recommend it.

The toggle-able hardmode is probably one of my favorite features, which makes the bonus optional bosses an extreme challenge if tackling them as early as possible, rewarding the player with new items for each successful hardmode boss defeated, while still giving players who don't enjoy or play on hardmode the option to purchase the hardmode rewards instead on boss defeat.

I don't want to write a big review talking about all of the characters and side stories, because I'll be here all week talking about them all, but I will say that the writing hit all the soft spots in me and made it well worth my time from start to finish.

Can confidently say it's a 9/10 and I'll always have such fond memories of this game.

It feels weird to play a survival-craft-explore-basebuilding game that is actually really, really good. Both playing single player and as a duo, it's a solid atmospheric experience with a really good semi-linear progression system.

There's even a setting to reduce how frightening spiders look if that's something you want! Because this game has a lot of spiders! A lot!! There's even a dedicated spider species whose sole purpose is to obliterate you during the night if you don't sleep.

As an added note, there is scalable difficulty when you create a new world (there is no randomization, which works well!), including creative modes with or without bugs/crawlies if you or your others don't want to engage in the combat focused parts of the game.

A solid 8/10 game, which is really as high as it gets for games in this category for me. Far exceeded expectations!

Rancid, awful. It's been years since I touched this and I still feel burned. Not at all intended for single player, but the gameplay is just not great either. Nothing feels satisfying to do. I can't recommend this game even for the multiplayer experience, because there are so many other multiplayer co-op games way worth your time across multiple genres.

Stay far, far away from this one. If you're real curious, look up a video review. Not worth it on sale or for free.

you can choose between the ability to marry your followers so you can kiss them daily to make them happy, or the ritual fight pit to make two followers fight to the death.

polyamory is not socially acceptable beyond six cultist spouses

the ritual fight pit is always socially acceptable and doesn't care about marital status

7/10

A solid 'sequel' to the previous Rogue Legacy game (which was also pretty solid for its time), continuing with the same features as before while also improving old features and including more.

On the overall, this is a pleasant game. It's not amazing, but it is good. Some of the new elements in the game feel a little weird, occasionally unnecessary, and there is a little bit of new jargon to wrap your head around (which they included a helpful glossary for-- it even has pictures!), but it feels like an experiment into new systems that were successful.

The challenge of the game is variable-- as you play the game more, you will acquire levels, stat bonuses, and some equipment to make future runs easier (often by providing new tools), like any roguelite, and it never really felt like progress was too slow. The really smooth controls really help sell the game for me, however repetitive it is on the surface. The better you are at the game, the more challenging things will get (usually), and I think that's a great method of progress so that people who want to spend more time grinding the game can do so. More ways to play the game is good.

My absolute favourite addition to the game though, is the "House Rules" settings. At any point in time, you can open up your options menu, and adjust the game's difficulty in a number of ways, both making it more challenging or easier. Enemy health and damage can be adjusted to 50-200%, You can slow down time as low as 25% speed when aiming (as aiming on a dime can be extremely difficult in a bullet hell 2D game), you can toggle infinite flight to make it easier for platforming.. This setting makes the game infinitely more accessible. Usually I'd say to pass on games like these if you are newer to the genre of 2D platformers if you hate tedium and tight platforming, but you can tweak settings in such a way that anyone can get into the game. It's great.

With all that said. Absolutely recommending the game. It's a solid all-rounder without being perfect at any one attribute, and the micro-adjustable difficulty settings makes the game much much easier to recommend to even novice players. For veteran and experienced players, the game is absolutely still very challenging, with the optional content being essentially challenge mode.

A lot of the game's fun is going into it blind, but the card battling/deck building can't be overlooked either! It's really good, has its own unique twists, but best of all, you can't actually 'softlock' or get hard stuck progressing the story with a bad deck, even with a total misplay. There's always a way to claw your way back up even for the most novice of players, and since there's no reaction-time mini game, there's a very low bar for entry for this game.

But best of all, there's a Demo for the game!! There's literally no reason -not- to at least try the game when there's a demo. I can almost guarantee, the story/narrative is as good as the gameplay.

This is without a doubt, my favourite action-adventure platformer game out there. Really good platforming controls, environmental storytelling, interesting characters and environments, outrageously well designed bosses*, game never felt like it was too short or overstayed its welcome, sound design and music is also extremely good.

There's so much praise I have for the game, and it's almost all entirely subjective.

My only word of caution is that this game is not entry-level to action-adventure platformers, and can feel difficult right out of the gate. Hollow Knight will absolutely challenge your platforming and button timing skills, but dying on a boss fight or failing a jump never feels like the setback is significant, and you can easily get back to where you left off.

If you are looking for a game that will continuously challenge you, and reward you for exploring, Hollow Knight is excellent.
If you are looking for a laid-back game with slow paced combat and a dedicated 'easy' difficulty, Hollow Knight is not the game for you.

Look up gameplay of the intro (not speedruns), or buy the game and play for 2 hours, and decide if the game's a good fit for you. Refund the game before the 2 hour marker if you don't vibe with it.

Early Access Review
I went into a completely ordinary two story house through a window, as one does (front door was locked). I landed inside of a bedroom, and immediately a zombie burst out of the closet and jumpscared me. Channelling the strength of my ancestors, I pummelled the zombie to paste with a wooden club, like any good half naked tribal would.

Leaving the bedroom and going into the hallway, I saw some junk to sift through in the living room where there was a huge flat screen TV. A zombie burst out of a closet in my peripherals, and I nearly vomitted on myself before cleaning up the zombies with the munchies.

Some looting random cupboards for food supplies, I go upstairs. I see the same model of closet. Those wooden doors with the wood slats. I smash it. Nothing is there. The roof above me collapses and another zombie is raking its teeth into my skull to my heels as it falls to the floor, where I frantically smash it while sobbing.

I check out a really filthy washroom, but the moment I enter it, I fall through the floor, and proceed to get mauled by a dog.

Every. Single. Building. Does this. They're all miniature dungeons, with secret stashes, secrets paths, and varying levels of dangerous traps. I have extremely little tolerance for horror and sudden jumpscares (they aren't loud, just sudden). But they are SO much fun. All of them hand crafted, and so wonderfully put together. I think it's by far the highest point of the game, with a satisfying amount of loot progression in doing these little delves. I love it. I recommend it for this.

Everyone else touches on other subjects in the game in more depth. This game is an alpha, and feels like an alpha, but is well worth investing a few dozen hours into, which is well worth the price. Expect jank, weird physics, and realize this game uses a pseudo-minecraft block system for building and destroying environment (it works extremely well, I promise). This game will also still feel like an alpha (I promise this as well), but it a lot more developed than a lot of other "zombie survival craft food water shoot punch" simulator.
