ESG censorship. Already bought the game a long time ago. NOw they change it for the worse. Never buy another product from this company. Don't buy this game. Skullgirls is a 2D fighting game developed by Reverge Labs and published by Autumn Games.

Eh, LRMs and Sensor Lock is the big, cheap winning strategy, but it's so boring. This game is also coded extremely poorly, or they use my computer to mine crypto currency because of the ridiculously long loading times for missions that have no reason to take so long to load.

I posted the following after it happened and I uninstalled the game. Not fun:

How does the computer decide if something is a good faith effort or not. I walked into a mission that might as well have been described as a trick or an ambush. I blew up one enemy mech and then used the 'withdraw' action before I suffered big damage. I already had two injured mechwarriors and a mech that had some internal damage after at least three if not four rounds of combat. Distant reinforcements for the enemy were lobbing in volleys of LRMs.

Then my employer tells me I let them down and slapped me with a minus twenty faction adjustment when I had been doing sweetheart deals for them the entire career. And when I say sweetheart deals, I mean i was reducing the cbills and salvage down to nothing or just one pip to ge tthe maximum faction reward.

Yea, this sort of thing makes me choose to uninstall this game. I know someone will say, 'git good' or 'save scum'. I get handed a big enough turd by a game though, and i'm out.

If you didn't own a console to play Square's JRPGs in the past, then this is probably the one to play. It has good everything: Story, mechanisms, character development (stats and personality), decent graphics, wonderful music. Graphics are beautiful so you don't have to worry about hokey old-style graphics of a usual retro-game. I feel like Square changed after making this game.

X-2 was the first time Square made a direct sequel to a final fantasy game. They considered each game it's own self-contained work of art. X-2 never held my attention too well and I never completed it. You're buying this for FFX.

Edit: I decided to flip this to recommend. It entertained me just enough for me to play through it, most games can't make that claim. It does have some "atmosphere". It's still kinda "meh" though.

If I could rate this game as "Neutral" or "Meh", that would be the rating. Since the question is, "Can you recommend it?", then the answer is "no". If the question was, "Can you reject this game?", the answer would again be "No.

I have 15 hours of playtime, and the game is played out. I don't feel like there is any replay value here. Music is kind of nice and atmospheric, but not anything that screams "I must download to MP3 player". Art is interesting, but not inspiring.

I was looking for a game like Shandalar, and I appreciate that this game isn't an online experience requiring card pack buys with real money. But... the Shandalar experience isn't really here.

But, there are far worse ways to spend an evening or an evening and a half like I did to blow through this game. This game is a solid *Shrug*.

Augments and little story animations make this worth picking up for a stroll down memory lane.

Although I do not like how huge the sprites are and how zoomed up close the camera is when navigating dungeons. But since I know where I'm going it isn't a big deal.

This is more of a japanese version of the game. Bosses have some new surprises. You'll need more levels than in the old american version of the game.

This is not just a game. It is an artistic experience. The music is beautifully rendered by real choirs and expert musicians. The landscape art is hand-painted.

The different factions in this game have different stories. Unlike other games, like Civ, you actually play through the story of your faction by completing relevant quests. Finish your faction's story and you win. But finishing your faction quest story is not the only way to win.

This game is an experience, not just a game.
