There are four accounts of the last supper. These accounts vary is description but contain the same fundamentals. For example St Matthew was actually there when it happened and describes the consecration, and St John gives much more detail about the events of the evening but has no account of the consecration at all.
In St Mathew’s version he tells about how Jesus broke bread gave it to his disciples, took wine and blessed it. It tells how Jesus washed the disciple’s feet and told them to do that to one and other. Jesus said that the one who had dipped his hand into the dish with him was the betrayer. St John’s account is much more detailed.
St John’s account starts with supper ending after the consecration and Jesus beginning to wash the disciple’s feet. After peter asked to have his whole body washed, the disciples try to figure out who has betrayed Jesus and Jesus “He it is to whom I shall reach bread dipped”. And when he dipped the bread he gave it to Judas Iscariot.
These Stories are kind of at different times, for example, St Matthew’s account is before supper and than during supper and a little from the end of supper. While St John’s has a lot from the beginning, none during supper and much more than Matthews from the end.
I prefer St. Matthews account because, while it lacks details from after the last supper, it has the consecration in it.
St John’s account is more complexed than st Matthews. St John was actually there when it happened. St Matthew wasn’t. St Matthew’s account is more the basics of the last supper, while st John’s is more of the events surrounding the consecration and detailing those events.
