A brash alicorn banished from one of the royal families, Lightarrow Nightsword made a living, and a name for himself, out of being a hired muscle.

Being a member of a marauding troupe nicknamed the Bastard Bucks, he traveled with his best friend Bronco Bullcow. They were able to plunder many cities, till the royal guard was able to entrap them.

Pinning everything on Bullcow, the Bastards suddenly tried to kill him. Lightarrow tried to save him, but they were overwhelmed. They were able to escape, but Bullcow didn't hold on for very long.

Swearing revenge, and donning Bronco Bullcow's favorite hat, he enters the tournament in hopes of winning the prize money enough to win the hearts of many wild mercenaries, and get back on their former boss that took Bronco's life.
