Would like to start by trying to clear a very wide spread misconception, namely that the game is unfinished.
Darkout is a self standing episode, that is finished, providing 100+ hrs of very satisfying gameplay.
People who tell you the game is not finished are being misleading. Yes more episodes were announced, but due to the fact the developer went bankrupt, the other episodes were never made. Each episode was supposed to be a self standing game, just like Darkout.
To say Darkout is not finished, is like saying Witcher 3 is not finished because they cancelled Witcher 4.

Darkout was for me the best Terraria-style game, i liked it more than Terraria (on which i spent a lot of time too).
The things i liked most about Darkout were the satisfying sense of progression that keeps on going to the end, the combat and the true sense of exploration. The idea of constantly striving for more light while constantly fighting darkness was great and added a lot of atmosphere.

If you like Terraria style games, you should give Darkout a try, its one of the best the genre has to offer, not to mention the preetiest.
Its a shame that the developer had no experience in management and PR and that led to a flood of nerd-rage review-bombing, which in turn led to the developer going down.

This is all ancient history now so it doesnt matter anymore, all you need to know is that the developer did finish the game before going down, so you do get a full game, which happens to be very good.
