You'll see more than one key mapping for keys (ex: more than one left flipper mapping). Just edit the top keys and leave their duplicates below alone.
Google the keyboard key mapping numbers to find out what numbers to use for the keys you want to change mapping on.
Hearing a dev say they didn't expect/realise it was wanted that much etc. kind of explains why for the controller support but I guess it's early days yet. I'd still love to try it and probably will but just for the moment for me there's no rush for nostalgia reasons it's still on my to-get list though.
