This is a superb 1st person adventure. It's so big that there's plenty of replayability and if that's not enough, there's a ton of mods to add to the game. It's too bad that with the release of Fallout76 Bethesda has discontinued this fine series.

Actually, I don't like the game. I'm trying to cancel my Plus Membership and can't find out how. At this point, I'm not sure I can cancel it.

More complex, but not better. It is SLOW between turns, Other people have pointed out that the graphics suck, and I'll add that unexpored land is brown. Land that is not directly viewed by any units is brown. A perfect contrast-free experience. I also have a problem with resources going away when they are harvested. They couild have added decreasing yields if they wanted to limit resources and researchine crop rotation.

I haven't actually played the game yet, but here are my first impressions:
1. On Windows 10 64-bit the game does not install correctly. It just silently fails to run. The fix for this isn't even part of the developer's troubleshooting tips. A user submitted the fix for Windows 8.1 in 2014. I find it inconceivable that the developers didn't bother fixing this problem two years ago. To save some searching, run this for the fix:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Distant Worlds Universe\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSETUP.exe"

2. There is no support for large monitors. I have a 29" monitor, and I think (but am not sure) DW:U runs in 1024 x 768. There's no option to change the resolution in the video settings. In my humble opinion, whatever resolution the developers are using looks ugly on a large monitor.

I'm actually so pissed at the developers, that I'm not even going to try the game. I'm going to get my money back. I may be missing the ultimate best strategy game ever written, but there are always other games to play.

When I saw Sid Meiers in the title, I thought the game had to be good. I was wrong. The tutorial doesn't really explain the game, and the game play was too dull for me to go through the trial and error to master it. It was obviously designed for tablet computer, and in my opinion, suffers from it.
