Quite possibly the most fun and challenging game I ever played. Excellent gunplay, The adrenaline rush you can get in this game is just insane. Imagine this; You're the last one alive on your team, the only way to get them to respawn is to capture a point on the opposite side of the map. Just you, your gun, and a sea of angry NPCs between you, who won't even hesitate for a second before filling you with lead. You run room to room, across streets, through alleyways. Bullets ricocheting behind you, shooting anything that moves in front of you. You finally make it to the point, your gun low on ammo, you grab a nearby dead terrorist's RPK and set yourself up in the room, waiting as that bar fills, capping the point. Just when you think you're home free, terrorists start pouring through every direction, firing everything they got at you, to stop you from capping that point, you keep firing, mowing them down, hoping for those magic words to resonate through your headphones. "Charlie has been secured", and then. nothing. A terrorist gets a lucky headshot on you, killing you instantly, losing the round, but no one is mad, not your team, and definitely not you. You may have lost, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that was fun.

Its moments like these that sets Insurgency apart from other shooters. The only other shooter I can think of that can give you this kind of rush, is Arma. Speaking of which, in some ways these two games are quite similar. While yes Arma is a open word milsim, and Insurgency is a closed map FPS. Both still are the same in quite a few ways. First off both games feature a leaning mechanic, both allow you to deploy a bipod for better aim, and both let you customize your weaponry. Unlike most shooters. Insurgency tries to give you as less info as possible. Essential things like your teammates and points are present, but things like health and ammo aren't. The only indication of how much ammo you have is a number in the corner. Showing how much magazines you have. Though, that doesn't mean they're full. You could leave 1 bullet in each mag, and still have the game tell you that you got 5 magazines. As for health, lets just say. typically no armor is a one shot kill from most weapons, light armor is 2 shots, and heavy armor allows you to survive up to 3.

I highly recommend Insurgency to anyone, and also recommend Day of Infamy, originally a mod for Insurgency, like Insurgency originally was a mod for Half Life 2. Now a stand alone early access game that takes place during the European WW2 theatre,

Oh, and lets not forget the weapons themselves, American soldiers are granted access to all the typical US armed forces rifles. M4A1, M16A4, M14EBR, the M249 and many more.
The Insurgents on the other hand get more typical weapons of a middle eastern faction, weapons like the AK74, AKM and RPK, but also featured surplus WW2 weapons like the M1 Carbine, MP40, Sterling, and the Mosin.

All in all, amazing gunplay. pretty good selection of firearms, pretty decent though small community, and very easy to get immersed into and have fun, even when failing the same mission over and over.
