I'd give this a mixed review if I had the option, but I'm putting it as negative.

As far as the game itself goes, the only thing I *really* enjoyed was the immersion and once again playing a lovecraftian game. Not just a lovecraftian game but an actual official full on Call of Ctulhu game.

The animations are janky, the detective scenarios are really just you pressing two buttons to go into detective mode (you also do this as two other characters, so it isn't even unique to the protagonist) and then interacting with several prompts. So it isn't even you actually solving any scenarios which The Sinking City at least had you do.

There is some light stealth involved, but I wouldn't really call it stealth because the AI is janky. You can just run away and around most things and be fine. There is this one stealth section with you going around finding items and avoiding guards, but aside from stealthing around one guard to get a key, I pretty much just sprinted back and forth.

The voice acting is meh, and the game is essentially a walking sim. Which is fine really, what else would you expect from a Lovecraft game, but then at one point it gives you a gun which lets you one shot and kill a bunch of crazed people and cultists lol. It also re-uses this creature called the Shambler a ton, which instantly kills you (like everything in the game) once it gets to you. The first encounter with it was pretty decent. I mean once it sees you, you're dead because it'll keep chasing you, but it was pretty scary of an encounter. But then they re use it two more times after that, and I'm just like "let this end already".

You build up a skill trees which build up to 4 different endings. I unlocked two of the endings (the counter ritual, and the ritual) and as usual, and watched the rest on youtube. I mean I think it's cool that there are multiple endings, but they are all based on very specific things you need to do along the way, rather than actual decisions YOU yourself would think of making. Which is fine, tons of games have vague things to do to unlock vague endings.

Basically I picked this up on a sale and enjoyed it mostly for the immersion. I actually enjoyed Sinking City a tad bit more than this, even though that's just as janky of a game, if not jankier. And again with meh endings.

Pick this up if you can grab it for sale and love Lovecraft and want to play a game in the world. But if you're looking for an actual detective game or something, there are tons of better ones. Lovecraft games will always be weird like this, because they can't exactly have you going in guns blazing like those older games, it would just be weird. Lovecraftian creatures are meant to mess with your mind and make you go insane, which I give props to this game for doing with the ritual ending. That was cool at least.

It was a very cute game. If you love games like Outer Wilds, then immediately buy this game. While there were some plot holes and other minor issues, it was a great experience and I got the canon/best ending on my first try. It was an enjoyable experience and it's one meant to go into blindly.

Early Access Review
remembered this out of the blue and felt the need to leave a negative review since it's essentially a dead scam at this point and nothing will become of it

Loved Code Vein. Loved Astral Chain. Loving this. Playing with Switch Pro controller and having no issues. I do wish there was ultrawide support.

Man I slept on this game. Picked it up for dirt cheap weeks ago and finally went into it two days ago blindly with no expectations. I honestly could not put the game down. It stays interesting pretty much all throughout. It keeps things fresh between the combat and stealth, you're always improving your kit and there are multiple ways to go about some of the combat.

With that said, it's not a perfect game by any means. The puzzles are simplified and more of the "A B C" nature than actual mind logic. A ton of the stealth and encounters are of linear nature where you have one set path (this improves later on when you grow your kit). It also has several sections in the game that are a bit of a drag with you just moving around doing mundane tasks. I appreciate down-time in games more than any other person; I love when it's not nonstop combat. But it reuses a certain castle area several times and while it changes things up each time, it did get kind of dull being stuck in one place for so long.

Also, as much as I enjoyed the story, I have to say that I prefer the first half of it. A ton of things change in the second half that pretty much change the entirety of the game. I don't want to spoil anything, but I absolutely loved the first half of the game over the second. Things get a bit too supernatural for my liking in the second half. And while you can argue that a ton of rats forming tornados is supernatural on its own, If I could find a way to describe it, I'd say imagine you have the first half of Last of Us right? Joel and Ellie doing their thing. And then in the second half, you find out Ellie's immunity lets her control the infected, and she spends the rest of the game in power of the infected and sends them against enemies. Sounds cool right? But doesn't that kind of take away any fear you had of the infected? If anything, they're your weapon now. And not only that, but you now have a supernatural element that further suspends disbelief. It's the same for this game; something of similar nature happens.

Amazing visuals and sound design. The game looks beautiful. The voice acting isn't A-list tier but it does the job and I really enjoyed it.

Even though I prefer the first half, there was no point in the game where I was bored. It keeps itself interesting and the big lack of loading screens along with the instant gameplay-to-cutscene transitions really help smooth everything together. The story did get very predictable here and there but I really enjoyed the friendship and character development of the cast. It made me smile a ton. I'm very excited about the sequel and as long as it hits Steam, I'll definitely pick it up at launch. This game is absolutely worth picking up though. Worth noting that my hours played isn't accurate as I went afk a ton, but I highly recommend it. A solid 7,5/10 for me.

Super fun 15 min experience, especially for Doctor Who fans. Hoping the Edge of Reality game can be this immersive. This actually made me LIKE Jodie's Doctor, and proves that if she had a good script, she pulls the role off great.

Played with Quest 2 + Virtual Desktop

It became my favorite RE title after 4. It was really, really good. Aside from the village hub area, only two areas of the game (the castle and factory) play like traditional RE areas with finding keys, items, etc. The rest of the game is more linear, short, and actiony-. Which is fine. The castle WAS a bit too short though imo. Many expected the entire game to be the castle, or at least a larger part of it. And it definitely could have been, but I enjoyed what we got regardless. Definitely one of the best games I've played as of late.

Next to Binding of Isaac, this is my absolute favorite Roguelike. Returnal might top it but that's singleplayer, this is pure co-op fun while still remaining fun in singleplayer. Absolute blast.
