The Last Roman is definitely one of my favorites of the whole Total War series. Up until now its been a somewhat "shameful display" since the former undisputed Total War "King", or should I say "Shogun" was of course Shogun 2!!! Shogun 2 Shogun 2 all the way!!!! (Ok, Rome 2 and Attila do have their moments, but not like Shogun)
Now a Glorious Victory will soon be yours again, or will it be really be Justinian's victory? Time will tell. Time will tell...
Now download (or wait for the inevitable steam sale again like I did!) The Last Roman, and come ride along for the ride in Belisarius's struggle bus! Will you take your not-so-loyal wife, and your temperamental (to say the least) rulers Justinian and Theodora along for the ride? Just don't let them in the drivers wheel, those temperamental "mean girls". And nobody want a bus driver that threatens "to turn this bus around!" when they don't get what they want, which is pretty much all the time.
You'll wonder why Belisarius never did actually accept the Kingdom of Italy when the Ostrogoths offered it. He most certainly deserved his own Kingdom after how Justinian treated him, and what he supposedly did to him after his campaigns.
I really enjoy the plot driven and choices you are given. For the full effect, I suggest staying true to the Empire, at least until close to the end of the campaign for that role playing and events aspect. I would also suggest playing on at least Very Hard for other Total War vets for a fun challenge.
