Finished. Took my time and stealthed as much as possible, explored (but not enough) and can render my verdict.

PROS: -Beautiful terrain. Having spent some time in Georgia, CI did at least attempt to convey that feel, at least. The big town with the wedding church? Yeah, that exists, almost a perfect match.

-The path you take to accomplish your objective was not laid out for you. You had to plan your route well. Not just once did I have to backtrack to accomplish my task because I failed to properly scout the enemy situation or the impassibility of terrain. That's a nice challenge.

-Sound was well-done. With so much taking place at night, sound was important, and saved me a few times.

-Textures of buildings, guns and places was very good.

-Lighting and shadows. Cryengine is good for these, and CI made good use of it.

-The story. Some people say there was only the most basic story. This was true to an extent. However, what it does do well is hold the whole package together, and keep you enfranchised in what is happening to the people and yourself. For me, it inspired the desire to keep going and fight more of the good fight. Had they only cobbled a bunch of missions together, I might not have enjoyed it as much.

-Frequent checkpoints (for reasons which I will detail under cons).

-Finally, the sniping mechanics. CI has done this to perfection in all Ghost Warrior games now, as well as in a game I wager many have not played,, but should: Enemy Front. They OWN sniping in the gaming world!

CONS: -Character rendering was awful. Lydia and virtually every other NPC had a washed out, emotionsless, pastel look to their faces. Much more detail could have been done...it's Cryengine 4. Go back and look what Crytek did in Crysis 3 with Cryengine 3!. Their clothing was only slightly better detailed than the faces.

-Several places my character got stuck in terrain or fell inside the geometry. Luckily my last checkpoints were recent.

-At great distances, zooming in with the scope sometimes resulted in enemy soldiers disappearing. Thankfully it was a part-time bug or I would not have gotten my 563m record shot!

-One of the patches took away my ability to repair rifle silencers. CI being who they have always been though, were super-responsive, and issued a rollback patch within 2 days.

-The savegame bug. I only mention this because so many had it. Because of this, I ended every sesssion making a backup copy of the save file and config file. It turns out, I did not need it. I never once encountered this bug, thankfully! But thanks to my fellow gamers making this known, I would have been prepared.

Overall, this game was a blast! It is fairly unforgiving, and is definately in the more "realism" mode than Sniper Elite 4 (which I also enjoy very much). Completing my missions did not always feel pre-ordained, and that is a good thing. The pros outweighed the cons and I think this is a must play!

Just finished myself... slow stealthy and enjoyed each mission. I got stuck in 6-7 cracks, which could be annoying, Overall just wanted to ditto your review. It's spot on with my experience - I'd end up writing the same thing.
