Bought it to savor the irony of my bros rallying around a kraken banner while getting squeezed to death by a swamp kraken.

Also to buy a round of hot chocolate for devs.

Thanks to you buying this DLC, your bros can not only get shanked, eviscerated and beheaded by men, orcs, gobbos, and undead, but also:

Killed in their dreams by hairy Freddy
Devoured by Cthulhu
Seduced and murdered by the Ladies of the Wood from the Witcher 3
Beaten to death by The Abominable Snowman and his backup dancers

Your bros do not want you to buy this DLC.

Edit: Even the vegetation kills your bros now.

Edit 2: And my boy Randall the Vandal just got eaten by a giant spider.

CK II has a lot of DLC. The policy of frequently releasing these paid updates is controversial, but I personally think that the idea is basically a good one. I love this game and I love that it continues to be updated and revitalized on a regular basis.

That being said, the DLC ranges from bad to mediocre to great.

This is one of the great DLC.

It adds a suite of much needed fixes, as well adding excellent new flavor, rules, and world-creation options. It completely revamps the crusade system, which has been sorely needed for years. All in all, it really breathes new life into the game and is one of the essential pieces of DLC for the game.

It has an ok look, but it runs poorly and plays janky.

Refunded.

The original game is terrifying.

This DLC is terrifying.

If you've been enjoying the terror up to this point, then by all means purchase another dose.

It's not a huge addition, but I like it.

You take on waves of new enemies on the Farmstead in a battle of endurance.

If you survive, you are rewarded with shards that allow you to trade for powerful items.

It's nothing huge or game-changing, but if you already enjoy the game I expect that you will enjoy this as well.

A hugely enjoyable blend of deck building and dungeon crawling.

Building synergies between cards and artifacts is consistently fun and satsifying, but the game is balanced enough that you rarely feel overpowered.

There's no real story, which I personally think is kind of a missed oppurtunity.

Enemies are tough and dangerous. Many have deadly tricks up their sleeves!

Between three different characters, a huge variety of cards, daily challenges, and a custom mode that lets you build your own mode, there's a massive amount of content here.

Well done, devs!

I'm a little bit conflicted about Battle Brothers, but at the end of the day I think that it deserves a thumbs up.

In just a handful of (failed) campaigns and 200 days in game, my men have been beheaded, gutted, poisoned, devoured, stabbed, cut, skewered, and shot. Entire companies have been slaughtered. We've run out of money, starved, gotten lost in the woods and ambushed by goblins, and so many, many other disasters.

Battle Brothers is a hardcore tactical strategy game. You maneuver your band of merry corpses-to-be on the battlefield, taking out direwolves and brigands for money.

Combat is deep and complex. There are many options for customization. Enemies are varied and have smart AI that constantly keeps you on your toes.

So, with all that great stuff, why am I conflicted about recommending this game to you?

Well... Battle Brothers is a little bit hard.

Actually, it's brutally, crushing difficult. This is a game that will tear you to shreds for the slightest mistake. You will be massacred for any tactical or economic misstep.

Poor gear? Dead.

Not enough men? Dead.

Bad positioning? Really dead.

And that's all on BEGINNER difficulty!!

I can't even imagine what this game is like on the higher difficulties.

Anyway, after ~12 hours with the game, I think I need a little time off from this game. I'll come back to it from time to time and gradually learn it. Hopefully it will click eventually, because there's a lot of great stuff in here.

tl;dr If you consider yourself a hardcore master of strategy, then you may have just found the perfect game.

BUT, if you don't think that you're up for that kind of challenge, you might want to give this a hard pass.

A baffling refugee from the 1980's. I don't understand who is giving this game positive reviews. The graphics are prone to cause spontaneous eye bleeding, the controls are incredibly weird (who uses the number pad??), and everything is obtuse and confusing.

Don't be deceived by the positive reviews. If you didn't play games on DOS, I seriously doubt that you will enjoy this.

A fun, fast-paced game where you play as a naked basejumper who loves nothing better than to dive into the world's deepest well and exterminate all life within.
