“The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow- witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.” ― Leo Tolstoy
“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” ― C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock: Essays on Theology (Making of Modern Theology)
« Jamais on ne fait le mal si pleinement et si gaiement que quand on le fait par conscience. » de Blaise Pascal
“There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there has always been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'” ― Isaac Asimov
« La succession de chercheurs est comparable à un seul homme qui apprend indéfiniment. » de Blaise Pascal
“People understand me so poorly that they don't even understand my complaint about them not understanding me.” ― Søren Kierkegaard, The Journals of Kierkegaard
“The greatest hazard of all, losing one’s self, can occur very quietly in the world, as if it were nothing at all. No other loss can occur so quietly; any other loss - an arm, a leg, five dollars, a wife, etc. - is sure to be noticed.” ― Søren Kierkegaard, The Sickness Unto Death
“Der Mensch kann tun was er will; er kann aber nicht wollen was er will.
Man can do what he wills but he cannot will what he wills.” ― Arthur Schopenhauer, Essays and Aphorisms
It is often safer to be in chains than to be free. Franz Kafka
“Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.” ― Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
"Si la science rend le monde disponible, l’art le rend habitable, en lui restituant sa présence, ses qualités et son sens." ― Merleau-Ponty
Logic is not a body of doctrine, but a mirror-image of the world. Logic is transcendental. Ludwig Wittgenstein
“Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?” ― Epicurus

That’s it. I’m sick of all this “melon pan” bullshit that’s going on in anime right now. Baguettes deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that. I should know what I’m talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine baguette in France for 17,500 Euros (that’s about $20,000) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid steel with my baguette. French bakers spend years working on a single baguette and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest breads known to mankind. Baguettes are thrice as sharp as Japanese breads and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a melon pan can cut through, a baguette can cut through better. I’m pretty sure a baguette could easily bisect a knight wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash. Ever wonder why the Mongols never bothered conquering France? That’s right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined bakers and their baguettes of destruction. Even in World War II, German soldiers targeted the men with the baguettes first because their killing power was feared and respected. So what am I saying? Baguettes are simply the best bread that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better representation in anime.
