This game is like MGSV-lite meets Just Cause 3. You can do all the tactical Ghost-Recon/Metal Gear/Splinter Cell/[Insert Stealth Shooter Here] things with a fair amount of features like drones, different types of explosive or lure tools, and even a decent amount of customization (gun customization is ok, but the operator customization is pretty good). Or you can get the underbarrel grenade launcher and shoot armored planes and helicopters out of the sky ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you're looking for a solo experience, it's worth picking up on sale. If you want co-op you might want to pass, as the servers seems like they're always down lately.

Even in it's current state, it's a no-brainer. Get it and you won't be disappointed.

Get it if you want to support the devs. The soundtrack is great, but Crowe isn't. His model is very well done, and is visually appealing, but without the element of customization its not likely that you'll be swapping out another knight for him. Bizarrely he's max level but his damage feels like its 1/4 of what it should be.

This game is not very hard. For people coming from the Armored Core franchise or some of the previous Gundam games, it'll probably be a walk in the park. At first, I kind of hated that. While AC definitely beat me into the ground on several occasions, I always felt like there was some kind of strategy I could employ to at least pass the mission with... decent scores. This game is not like that at all. I'm fairly confident that someone could run this entire game with the very first, basic arsenal with no real trouble. Progression doesn't feel very tangible from the lowest rank all the way up to the highest one.

But I think that's kind of the beauty of it, because there is a decent variety in weapons and arsenals that can be customized. After a giving the game a second shot I really do enjoy it. Because the game doesn't feel terribly challenging (and because there are no difficulty options), players can approach the missions however they want. In fact, I personally feel that someone who wants to have a min-maxed, super optimal build might actually have a worse time than someone who just throws whatever they want on their arsenal.

You want to run a top heavy, machine-gun armed, missile-launching WMD on legs? Go for it.
What about a super light, super speedy assassin arsenal with a sword in one hand and hammer in the other? Just keep zipping around and you're good.
How about an arsenal with a twin linked laser canon on its back holding a shield in each hand to prevent it from taking too much damage between blasts? Just get the gaia-ray and two shields.

Honestly you can run virtually anything and it can work. You can certainly give yourself just 4 of the "best" weapons and shred everything in seconds... or you can take whatever you want and still probably shred everything in seconds. Sometimes I play with all 5 weapon slots filled (2 arms, 2 pylons, 1 back) and use all the special abilities that arsenals have. Other times I try to play it like a basic Gundam GM or Zaku: 1 shield, 1 rifle and no special abilities. I find both instances fun because the game doesn't really force you to play a certain way.

If you want a hardcore, super customizable, mech/mecha sim then this sadly won't be for you (I definitely felt that when I first picked it up). But if you're looking for a fast-paced "hero mech" shooter with a ton of basic customization options then this is pretty great. And honestly the library for this type of game is pretty limited on Steam so... yeah

ROK AN' STÖN, YE BASTERDS!

It's nice to play a zombie game where instead of a stock standard moralizing survivor you take the role of a psychopath vigilante.

You can play as a Techmarine, and that's probably as good as we're gonna get in a shooter type game - top down or otherwise.
