I haven't cared this much about NPC's since Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and that came out in 2003. And I dont just mean party members, although I will go through hell to see them succeed, but every NPC in this game. Every character in this game is absolutely wonderful and memorable.

I absolutely adore the Ratchet and Clank series, and played most of the games over the years. The different guns in Rift Apart are great and whimsical, as always; the story is fine, the voice acting is great!

And in this installment the two positive outliers are the Set pieces and the movements of the models. The characters just have a natural fluidity to them that I hadn't noticed before, and the setpieces make you feel like a GD superhero - even though they are not particularly challenging, they FEEL challenging, if you know what I mean.

The challenge level is one of the weaker points, honestly. On the standard difficulty, the only fight that gave me any real challenge was the final boss. It is a little better in NG+, and maybe on higher difficulties but I haven't tried those yet. With a lot of exploration, it took me approx. 30 hours to complete the story with 96% completion. So it's not the longest game, but the NG+ just tacks on more hours of fun.

Oh, and lastly, I am Dutch and the Dutch voice acting is fantastic! The fact that it is easily available in Dutch on Steam is great and the translations are really well done.

I genuinely enjoy puzzle games and logistics games (Think Factorio and Zachtronics), so you'd think Automachef would be right up my alley. It most certainly is not. I genuinely hate this game. I was googling a solution for the VERY FIRST level because I couldn't work it out. Turns out the assemblers have one input side, but that shouldn't take me 20 minutes to figure out.

This games makes me feel dumb, and not in a good way. The controls are clunky. The cramped space is far too restrictive. The programming of various elements it too rudimentary and unpredictable.

I uninstalled and moved this game to my Trash folder, never to attempt again.

If you aren't looking for a great story or an engaging main character but just want to shoot nazi's through the eye socket from a great distance, this is the game for you!

Going from 'normal' (just bullet drop) and 'hard' (bullet drop + wind) is a huge step that takes a bit of getting used to, but once you've mastered it and if you can resist reloading after a missed shot, it becomes a wonderful game of hectic cat and mouse.

My favourite thing is to drop land mines in places and just wander away. 15 minutes later, a message pops up: Trap kill! and it just makes me grin to no end.

The missions are very replayable with all kinds of extra challenges, although not all of these seem fun for me personally.

Early Access Review
This is a great game if you like tinkering with in-game systems and iterate on previous builds.

It's great to play stumbling about for a couple of hours, realize your building style is competely inadequate for the mid-game and restart.

Then play 15 hours and realize your building style is completely inadequate for the late-game and restart.

Then play 100 just to see how big you can make the factory!

A few legitime gripes: the combat gets a little tedious, especially if the base becomes so big you need trains to get around. Oil is a bit of a pain and there is never enough of it. I really recommend getting the Rail Tanker mod so you can transport it a little easier.

The mods in general add a ton and are easily installed (and removed again)

Bought this game for the sole purpose of playing against my wife. The amount of hoops you have to jump through to be allowed to play multiplayer games is ridiculous. I've played MtG for a decade, so I was already annoyed that I couldn't skip the tutorial, and then to figure out we both have to beat the stage 1 boss before we can do multiplayer was very frustrating. Games should not be frustrating. Uninstalling this game now and going back to MtG 2014! Very disappointing!
