What can I say? FEAR is a solid shooter. This has some great mechanics; from diverse set of weapons, complex maps and a great time dialation ability. The few downsides( as all things like this suffer from..) being a Recharging flashlight for one. i hate those things. Ever since Half-Life, What flashlight only lasts a few minutes then needs to rechage? Unless you make me hand crank the thing I think that's sort of annoying. Some of the controls are a bit unwieldy too, the 'Use" key is "F" a little awkward since most games use the "E" key. Aside from that the game is a good top end shooter, it tries to mesh some horror / suspence, and while some events are creepy, having an arsenal of guns and being able to slow down time kinda makes it a little less scary. None the less it did manage to get some genuine shock moments out of me. A solid shooter and well worth an addition to any collection.

While this is an interesting concept, it has a few glaring flaws. The idea of upgrading your weaponry for example is neat, in theory but, in practice? Why bother using weapons that use ammo when you can regenerate energy for all the electric weapons? On top of that the electric weapons seem to be WAY more effective against all the robotic enemies. I would have liked some "biologics" that required the use of the ammo weapons to keep the pace hectic and challinging. A true "Shooter" in it's own right, Hard Reset is sort of lackluster and a bit tedious at times. A nice diversion but, if you're looking for a hardcore shooter, you might want to look somewhere else.

Wow. A blast from the past for a gamer like me, I remember the orignal Castle Wolfenstein on the Apple and the Orignal Wolfenstein 3-D. Though I loved the old games (Milestones in their own right) this game is a product of it's time. Gone is the simple clunky hud and Life totals replaced by the "Inferred health" and "Hide-till-you-regen" mechanic. I feel that this game at time becomes a typical "find cover" shooter; while having alot of the old nods to the older games, the enemy still cries "Mien Liben!" when shot, and the final boss gives our hero his titular "Guten Tach!" line before laying waste with his dual mini-guns.
Once again I was surprised, a great mechanic and story that brings William B.J. Blazkowicz back again for more Nazi stomping action. A product, as I said of the times but, if you're like me and love Indiana Jones and were a fan of the orignal games, this game is just awesome on SO many levels!
