To me this game is a good example of a game that is worth it's money (20 euro's), or even more.

Pro's:
- Well balanced combat. Although I haven't played all classes yet, those that I played all felt like they added something unique to the group. The loot-drops are also quite well spaced, not too many, not too few.
- Secrets to discover add that little extra interest. The same goes for the black market items you discover, that can give you a nice profit, but hurt your image...tough choices
- Puzzles are very few, which to me is a plus, since they often annoy me (I understand they can be part of the crawler experience, so your milage may vary)
- The main story missions in particular are fun and varied

The cons:
Despite definitly recommending this title, it does have a couple of noticable drawbacks, that seperate it from titles with a larger budget.
- The procedurally generated dungeons have too little variation in background and atmosphere. "office building" "space station" and "crystalmine in space" are pretty much the only themes. This starts to get boring after a while.
- The variety in different kind of enemies to combat is also lacking. This means that after 30+ hours or so, it starts to feel a bit like a chore sometimes (with the exception of the main story missions, as mentioned)
- The "Hacker minigame" (which can take quite a lot of time though) gets boring fast. The variety in enemies is a lot more limited than on the regular map, and the tactics required are too simple and similar.
- The objects you find that have you make relevant choices are also somewhat limited after extended gameplay. They also tend to always give the same outcome if the same choice is made, which makes them perhaps too predictable after a while.

In conclusion: This is obviously a title developed with limited means, but the makers definitly got the most out of it. I hope this has raised them the funds for a DLC, since the enemy- and dungeon variety issues could easily be solved this way. The hacker minigame can hopefully be replaced/fixed in Starcrawlers 2. I'm definitly hoping there will be one. The title has much potential...

As someone who suffers from a RSI related injury, pc gaming was impossible for me for about two years. I used Dragon Naturally speaking for email/texts, but this software was very unsuitable for gaming. When I had the chance to purchase Voicebot via Humble Bundle, I finally found what I needed.

pros: - Intuitive but quite extensive sets of commands for voicecontrol in games. For instance, you can set if a button is pressed once by a voicecommand, or continiously, and for how long. You can also set multiple words to press the same button, so things stay intuitive during the game when the same button is used for different functions depending on the circumstances ingame.

- The voicerecognition happens through 'windows voice recognition'. I use the windows 7 version, and it does a great job in recognising my voicecommands (even though I'm not a native English speaker)

- Once you get used to using your voice for commands, it actually works more efficient during gaming than pressing the button manually (at least for me it does).

- It is really easy to set up your own gameprofiles and connect these to a certain game you own. It is also really easy to share this profile with the softwareauthors, who than add the profile to the list of userconfigured games.

- It is possible to use (I think) c++ programming for even more functionallity within the program, but since I don't know how to do this, the main pro is that you'll never have to. The program has enough preconfigured commands to make any game run fine (both for keyboard and mousebuttons)

There are ofcourse a few points of improvement, but I'd like to stress that these are only minor gripes with a program that is well thought out, and does it's job in a great way.

cons: - You need an English version of windows for the speechrecognition (or other languageversion that has an inbuild speechrecognition for windows in that language)

- As far as I can see, you have to use existing words for the commands. It doesn't seem possible to train the program to recognise words/sounds you add yourself (this is a function that I'd love to see added if possible).

- As a default, the program uses a 100ms timer for pressing a button once. This is enough to give a slight lag to your voicecommands. This problem can fortunatly largely be undone by setting the buttonpress to it's minimum of 25ms. In my opinion it would be better to set this lowest value as it's default, saves some work when setting up your own profiles.

- The list of downloadable profiles contain a descent (but not huge) amount of games, but I would encourage everybody to share their user made profiles and make this program a must have. Even though making you own profiles is really easy, downloading one that already exists is even easier ;)

I'm not exaggerating when I say that this program made gaming possible again for me, but I'm sure it has much to offer for any gamer who is open to using speechcommands in their game, It takes a little getting used to in the start, but is well worth the effort in my opinion.

p.s. For some reason Steam seems to think I've been using this program for 2 hours, but I assure you that the program has run in the background for 100+ hours of gaming by now

Well, almost everything there is to say about this game has already been mentioned in the other reviews. I totally agree with their recommendation of this game.

The description of this game may sound a bit like the old Commando games, but it makes a big difference that Silent Storm is turn based. The Real Time reactions and timing needed in Commando used to drive me crazy, while SS focusses on insight and planning. So no real time decisions...? Well, not quite. My only real gripe with this game are the moments where your squad is not in combat anymore/yet. At these moments the enemy soldiers on the rest of the map start moving real time, and quite quickly. Before my slow reactions can place all squadmembers correctly, the Nazi's find me and catch me at a disadvantage. This might just be me though...

HOWEVER: This slight critisism in no way degrades my respect for this game and it's developers. Very original concepts, unparalleled destructable environments, good physics and an allround almost flawless and bugfree execution make this one of my favourite games I ever played. I also feel like I probably missed loads of tactical possibilities on my first playthrough, so it has great replay value to boot.
Just be warned that the game might feel somewhat difficult to master when you start. Occasionally It might even feel like a part of the game is messed up, but in most cases it turns out it's just YOU (and me...) not completely understanding the (tactical) possibilities this game offers. Admittedly this is partly because the tutorial doesn't cover many detailed, but important, aspects of the game, such as using cover or explosives in different situations.

What are you waiting for!? Go buy this gem. It's on sale right now! And even if it's not, it's well worth it.
