This game has a very steep learning curve and an opaque tutorial system and it's user interface is wildly counterintuitive. It requires about 2 weeks of experimentation and youtube videos before you can really start playing it. That being said, if you can stick it out it is a fantastic space empire simulator that plays like a single player version of EVE. You can go from a single pilot flying a single fighter held together by duct tape and a prayer to a galactic emperor. You can experience a living breathing simulation of economies and faction wars and influence them how you see fit. The AI can be a little touchy at times but it does a surprising amount of leg work for things like automining, formations, ordering supplies for stations, and defense. It was the vision of these possibilities that kept me going through the first two weeks. If any of this sounds appealing I would recommend the game.

By far the most emotionally intense game I have ever played!

I am not a fan of horror games. I never liked the idea of deliberately immersing yourself in a psychologically uncomfortable experience. I played this game because I was interested in the story and themes and in that respect it did not disappoint. This game is like bioshock in theme but it does things so much better in execution. Unlike a game like bioshock infinite where the gameplay is in conflict with the narrative, everything you do in SOMA makes sense and has a very real context and purpose. Exploring the ruined pathos II, looking for clues, hiding from delusional monsters, and pondering the meaning of self, the mind, and existence seemlessly come together to make for an amazing ride.

I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of horror or if you are like me and do not like horror but enjoy the science fiction, the horror elements are not that bad. What will freak you out is the thought that we have no way to coherently describe continuity of consciousness.

Early Access Review
This game is one of a kind. The closest thing I know of is artemis bridge simulator but that is more of a lan rpg. This is my dream game. A 5 player co-op first person version of FTL. I'm surprised it took such a small indie studio to even attempt such a thing and yet it is coming along at a remarkable pace. I was an original backer and played the game since its barely functioning alpha release February of 2014. At this point in development there is definitely enough content to have a blast with 4 other friends. The story and mission content is still forthcoming and furthere changes will likely be made to the existing 5 classes but I would definitely recommend picking this game up if you can convince a few friends to join you. Pick up groups with randoms can also be fun. I would only warn against playing alone with bots since the AI is not fully implemented.

I really enjoyed the art style and presentation with the very cynical humor of the game. The stealth gameplay was challenging but fun, especially if you play with two other people. I had a blast planning out approaches and figuring out the levels even if it involved a bit of trial and error. The classes of agents you use introduce some variety to the game. I would recommend this game for anyone who wants a challenging multiplayer stealth shooter with a stylized aesthetic.

I would recommend this game for anyone who is a fan of story driven space scifi. The puzzles are fun, the characters are endearing and the story is interesting. It has a good mix of space mystery and ancient aliens.

I enjoyed this game way more than I thought I would. The graphics are not too fancy but the way the systems all seem to interconnect is very cool and there is something very peaceful and relaxing about being out there on Mars by yourself setting everything up. The learning curve is a little steep at first but once you accidentally suffocate or over expose yourself to radiation a few times you start to get the hang of things. I would highly recommend this game if you enjoy survival sims.

I can't recommend this game enough! This is the kind of game I've always wanted to play and the adventure mode they are working on looks amazing.
