NEW INFO TO THOSE "Disconnect from Internect to delete save file" TRICK.

*DENUVO count everytime you delete your save file as new installation. Doing it more than 5 times will 'disable' the game on your Steam account and prevent you from playing the game.*

Unverified, but it's Denuvo.

THAT THIS GAME HAS ONLY 1 SAVE. AND NO NEW GAME OPTION IF YOU START A GAME?
THAT IS ALWAYS ONLINE GAME? And your save is store on server?
THAT IT HAS DENUVO?
THAT CAMPING MECHANIC IS MICROTRANSACTION?!


Gameplay
-Subtitle is speech bubble over NPC head, and it's attach the to model, so if the NPC is walking, the text will jump up and down and un-readable
-Map is bug, if you try to scroll around it will snap back to starting position if your cursor touch anything.
-Mage vocation seem to bug, my magic bolt deal no damage to the 1st tutorial enemy

-Contain Enigma DRM with no statement on store page.
-min height is 160 (6'') and I cannot make FRIEREN. A crime against humanity bigger than DRM.

Capcom had added DRM Enigma Protector to their back catalog of games. Prevents modding, cheat engine, and reduces performance by up to 10-15 fps with stutters.

The DRM Enigma is also NOT present on Steam Store info page. Unlike Denuvo DRM. Making this a deceptive by omission.

Honestly, I never ever call any game this in any of my reviews. But this just break my most basic standard so I must.

This is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ software.

Yes, software, the level of QA and UX here is baffling. I never saw a software that open, when I click keybinding, open a notepad file for me to edit. Then when I edited it to use other keys (according to Unity's Engine InputSystem). the game break. As in pressing the key I change (from V to R, I press R) and nothing happen. Then I tried reverse my change, now magic 2 is no longer activate with any key input.

I click 'reset to default', nothing happen. The keybinding is still bug.

How long has this game been in Early Access? A year? And this has never been fixed? I search the forum and there's so much threads on how to change keybinding and question why it certain key does work.

Dev should stop AAA mentality that treat 'full release' as 'I need money injection now' button and actually release the game when, if not fully bug-free, at least deal with the worst problem the game has and put rail on to prevent or recover from possible ♥♥♥♥ up.

Do I enjoy the game?

I don't know.

But I won't recommend this game for the same reason I won't recommend 90% of Point-and-Click adventure.
The moon logic here is too much.
The pixel hunt too.

I was like at 70-80% enjoy mood when the exploration was possible. Then it plump to 0% when I check all possible forward path or lock door I had taken note. Then spend almost a hour hugging sus wall and found no possible path.

I give up and look at guide. I found out the solution for the door is the same thing I had done, but I just had to do it at this damn pixel or it won't open.

Also I hope the dev add pom/konpom.

Ok, I will start with this. Because it's the worst sin this game had committed. And the only reason I give this game negative review.

"If you think it's possible it probably is"

Let me tell you, this is a big fat LIE. Even Spelunky 1 has more 'consistence' interaction than this game. This game doesn't has 'simulation' , the only thing that has HP is you. And here's the list of stupid stuff that is mandatory in all other 'immersive sim' game but not this.

Wood door and wood locker door:
-CAN be destroyed by throwing brick, explosive, or shotgun
-CANNOT take no damage from fire, or wrench, or swinging bolt-cutter at it ,or throwing metal gate at it

Wood locker door with chain.
-CANNOT be destroyed by throwing brick, explosive, or shotgun
-Only open able by bolt-cutter

Tripwire
-CAN only be 'disarm' by using bolt-cutter.
-CANNOT use lighter to burn the wire to 'disarm'
-CANNOT just remove the bomb even when you are right next to the bomb side of the trap

Ok, go on the the other part of the game. And by that I meant "Is this a good horror game?"

It's a solid designed horror game. If the game didn't give me that "everything is probably possible" I would had easily give it positive recommendation.
....
Yeah, that's it. I doesn't has anything to add without being verbose. There's nothing 'innovative' to praise or breakdown. It's a good horror game at 10$ price (got it on discount).

Truth be told, the whole game feel like a solid demo for a real game that build up on this mechanic and system. I hope they expand on this direction.

It's buggy, lazy, and poorly internally played before features/designs got approved.
It’s like nobody actually play test this from start to finish.
I will start from Chapter 0, from when Nicole video start to the final boss.
NOTE: I play the original on all difficulties, and I play the remake in medium and would base my review on the medium difficulty.

THE LGBT QUESTION
Wait, why WOKE is the first thing I talk about?
It’s elementary my dear Watson, because the 2nd sentence I got from the game after Nicole video is a female character talking about her girlfriend; after we were briefed on the situation on the ship.

What the hell EA, we are going to floating zombieland, with people we were just introduced to (as a player). And instead of trying to make player care about them or establish some relation between them and Issac, you choose to use this opportunity to do “LGBT character checklist.”?

It's a obvious checklist, because it’s in the middle of serious dialog on what kind of situation could collapse such a giant ship to the point we can’t communicate with them and it look like it’s falling apart.

Don’t worry, because EA is lazy, this is never bring up again, and the female character resume back to her original dialog until the end of the game.

TLDR summary of WOKE-ness of the game
The game is actually trans-phobia, and Asian-phobia and has zero LGBT knowledge. It’s not “woke / pro-woke” at its core.

1. All Asian characters in posters were replaced by black people in the remake.
2. Even in the captain’s portrait room, the 7 portraits contain all race/culture/sex, except Asian. (Unless you count Indian’s subcontinent as Asian)
3. The restroom has 3 symbols: [male, female, mix]. Instead of using any non-binary symbol, they use mix bathroom symbol. Also, the bathroom leads into 1 big mixed restroom anyway. This feels really condescending.
4. The LGBT character is the villain.
5. The only Chinese character (new OC for this remake) is the source of all ♥♥♥♥-up ♥♥♥♥ you faced.

Take that what you will, if WOKE is a part of your purchasing metric, that is.

Gunplay, and balance

An totally ♥♥♥♥ show of a balance. The remake implements “Dynamic Difficulty” feature to the remake, but seem to has zero understanding on how to use it to make the game more fun.

In short, they use it to dynamically adjust lootdrops, but not enemy. This translate to “If you took no damage, enemy will only drop 100 credits (1 bullets worth of plasma cutter gun).”

In game like Resident Evil 4, if you do better, the game will throw more and more enemy at you, but the lootdrop will be consistence so good performance will meant your character will get stronger faster from better economy, which meant you can took on even more enemy and got to enjoy more gunfight. This is positive cycle.

In Dead Space, If you did well, you will get no drop instead of more enemy to shoot. Thus in the next fight you will has less and less resources until you got damages or die. This may sound ‘reasonable’ if the game want to evoke ‘desperation’ feeling. But the problem is… THIS APPLY TO CHEST TOO.

I had played very well, take no damage and minimize my bullets usage thought the use of telekinesis and environmental damage. Then I opened lvl3 lock room and got 7-8 chests to open. And all I got are 6-7 ‘100 credits’ loot, excluding hardcode drop that is also environmental decorations.

It’s insulting and kill any joy in exploration when you know all you got from 30 minutes of treasure hunting on the side room is just enough money to buy you 1 pack of ammo.

New features
This is getting long, so I will keep it short.

1. zero-gravity zone: IS HORRIBLE. You don’t has ‘up / down’ control. You go up and rotating your character up and moving forward. The map where you has to fly are also extremely dark and contain 1-hit-kill trap that you will accidentally rotate your leg into.

2. Side missions: IS ALSO HORRIBLE. AND BUGGED. I finished all of them, but due to the dynamic difficulty the only value I has is the lore collectables. Also the one with special upgrades is bug and the reward didn’t spawn, I realize that after I finish and check what I miss for this review.

3. Back Track: ARE MEANINGLESS. The only reasons is to get to use key to open chests, but those chests contain no unique rewards and (except the Masterkey rooms, which are so close to the fast travel room I don’t want to call getting them back track).

4. The new graphic and shadow: NEED MOD TO FIX. The game has a green blur filter that is not toggleable in the option. If you don’t use mod to disable them the game will look like it runs between 840p resolution. You can see this effect in the first gif in this game's description.
Also the shadow is bug with the green blur filter, making the ray-tracing shadow case pure pitch black shadow on your screen no matter the light intensity and adjutant light source.

5. Revamp story and map: GIVE BRAIN DAMAGE. Characters appear/teleport out of nowhere, and exist into room that when player enter, has no other exists. Issac’s slip into madness isn’t a excuse for characters to be able to teleport when they walk behind column. Yes, they did that in the original, but in the interview you claim to make the map obey physical space they occupy and change these stuffs so NPC can realistically move from where you meet them to the next cutscene. So I will hold you accountable.

And I am approaching word limit, so I will cut it here and concluded this with.

“Get the original, it has less bug and do more joy with less features.”
“Oh god, EA massacre my boy and pay critic to paint murder as a good thing.”

and make a save that's worth loading.

This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ genius.
