Help out: spread the word of hacking prevention!
What is one of Steam's biggest problems?
HACKERS. ACCOUNT STEALERS. SCUMBAGS.
We are at TAHG want to prevent YOU from being hacked!
Just folow A FEW rules, along with your common sense, and you'll be just fine! First off the subject of account security to prevent from hackers:
1.) If possible have account security questions. These can only work FOR you.
2.) Never answer questions like "What's your favorite color?" "What was your first dog's name?" or the like UNLESS you've known th eperson for a fair while, it could be a security question answer you use for Steam or other important websites.
3.) If possible, make sure your password isn't just a word, and try to find a combination of numbers or letters or both for something that an account stealer can't try to guess. If your account name is "Porkchop", don't pick a password "Porkchop1".
Now onto accountstealing! I put this in a different category since THESE particular jerks aren't even smart enough to hack, they just try to fool you. Don't fall for it, here are some common tactics they use.
1.) They will call themselves soemthing like "::" or "ADMIN" or "Steam Auto-Verify". If you are sent any chat requests, DENY THEM.
2.) One common method is that "Your IP has been tracked on two computers, please provide us with your log in and password". Steam will never contact you like this, so don't do it!
3.) Another is to invite you to a group, but instead provide you with a URL. First, OBSERVE this URL, if it looks suspicious do not click on it. It's likely a Steam look alike website which will prompt you to log in, and steal your info. Plus if they wanted to invite you, they could just right click on your name and add you via Steam, so don't do it like that.
