The stars of Left 4 Dead are literally S.T.A.R.S. We are the Special Tactics and Rescue Service, as well as members of the R.P.D., the Raccoon Police Department. Each member of S.T.A.R.S. is trained with the use of a wide range of weapons including grenades, pistols, shotguns, machine guns, assault rifles and sniper rifles. S.T.A.R.S. members are also trained in First Aid, crowd control, bodily restraint and tactical measures to deal with a threat to city security. In short, when the S.T.A.R.S. are aligned, Raccoon City is a safe town to live in. There are several dozen members of S.T.A.R.S., but 4 members in particular stand out from the rest for their courage and bravery under events of high stress.
