Not a twitch game - you pick y our flight path and maneuver orders to gain maneuver and firing positional advantages. Even better when coordinating multiple planes. Pick from among maneuvers, anticipating the enemy if you can, and he who thinks ahead has the edge over the opponents who fall behind. I have played this system a lot more than the hour count above overal.

A quality product that takes puts the the player's avatar General in command in all the most important and many of the smaller (optional) engagements of the war, pitting the player'-trained and other friendly forces against enemy AI. The player is responsible for procurement, training, organization and control in the field. Unlike the preceding Gettysburg game, this is not multiplayer but has added the useful ability to direct commanders o major formations to take an offensive or defensive stance around the a player-designated location on the map. This helps deal with the universal challenges of commander attention and leave the player with his hands full at times without being swamped in micro: Letting it run at the slower walking pace seems the best pacing to me

A great solo and multiplayer game presenting the Battle of Gettysburg as a branching mini-campaign of engagements in part of the field taking part of a day. Each fignht shapes the next, offering alternative historical paths that can keep the game fresh over the years. There are also extra maps, many prepared precisely for balanced multiplayer action.

The UI controls are straisghtforward and easily used, and the action can be paused for reflection by the player at any time. The AI (v1.7) is impresssive with alternative AI commander personalities that have different playstyles, and each scenario is playable in the range of half an hour.

I recommend this to anyone with an interest in wargaming or the the Civil War, and as a thoughtful gift to give to anyone who enjoys such an interest.
