Levels you perfectly with the game so it stays at a constant hardness. You receive good loot from the start and maintain better loot and actually get set items early and often in the game. It's nice to have a well balanced game, even the bosses required some sort of strategy. Even if that's hit and run haha. Play on Veteran status though, as you will find normal is for those who have never played a game like that before so it will be fairly easy. Veteran is a fun difficulty for the seasoned player.
