Don't pay $50 for the same game!
We all love Left 4 Dead. The purpose of this group is not to necessarily boycott the game itself, but more to boycott the manner in which Valve is handling this "sequel". A "sequel", which is going to essentially consist of new player models and some new campaigns. Not to mention the gimmicky, cliche inclusion of a chainsaw and probable $50 price tag. We'd like to think Valve has a ton of new ideas and gameplay additions/changes, but with the original L4D having barely been out for 6 months, we doubt they will.
It also raises some questions as to why Valve has not released the SDK for L4D. Did they realize that the content they're going to try to pass off as a sequel is the same content that the community could easily have created? Think of Counter-Strike. What are some of the most common user created files? Maps and skins, right? What looks any different about L4D 2? Maps and skins....
What we'd like to see is more content for the original Left 4 Dead in the form of new campaigns, weapons, and the inclusion of user-generated content. It is way too early for Valve to be making another full, standalone L4D game, and it is clearly being done to cash in on the popularity of L4D. Can't say we blame Valve, because it will, without question, make them a lot of money. But come on Valve, the success of your games as well as the third party games on Steam has been wildly successful. There's no need to sacrifice quality game development (which you have been known for) for a little more profit.
