I, Hugh Jackman, am an Australian actor and producer who is involved in film, musical theatre, and television. Born in Sydney of English parentage, and the youngest of five children, I have a communications degree with a journalism major from the University of Technology Sydney. After graduating, I pursued drama at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, immediately after which I was offered a starring role in the ABC-TV prison drama "Correlli" (1995), opposite my future wife Deborra-Lee Furness. Several TV guest roles followed, as an actor and variety compere. An accomplished singer, I have starred as Gaston in the Australian production of "Beauty and the Beast." I appeared as Joe Gillis in the Australian production of "Sunset Boulevard." In 1998, I was cast as Curly in the Royal National Theatre's production of Trevor Nunn's Oklahoma. As of now, I am known for my long-running role as Wolverine in the X-Men film series, as well as for my leads in Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing, The Prestige, Australia, Real Steel, and Les Misérables. My work in Les Misérables earned me my first Academy Award nomination for Best Actor and my first Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy in 2013. I am also a singer, dancer, and actor in stage musicals, and won a Tony Award for my role in The Boy from Oz. In my spare time, I play piano, golf, and guitar, and like to windsurf.
