Interesting premise, but lacking content. It feels like the authors were checking boxes off of the 'survival game must have' list without ever actually making their own unique game. The concept of navigation being a primary survival factor was the only unique part of this game. All in all, I'd give this one a pass if I were to do it over again.

Fun. 30+ hours of shooty/crafy/explory goodness. Worth the $.

More of a conceptual shooty walking simulator than a real game. Get it free or for less than $5 to enjoy about 7 hours of content with two different yet disappointing endings.

After a lengthy beta period, this game has finally reached full release. As promised, here's a revised review, and why I still don't think this game is worth 15$

Pros:
Animation, graphics, and general theme/feel are exceptional. Controls are also polished, and movement is smooth and easy. Game mechanics are simple... almost too simple...

Meh:
AI is unintelligent and more or less runs straight at you. Drawing enemies into a confined space or door way ALWAYS works, and follow up with a bow if necessary. Magic is lackluster, and if you removed it from the game I wouldn't even notice. Random generation in levels isn't very random, and doesn't ever inspire a sense of "oh wow, I haven't seen this yet". Potions are an unreasonable gamble and drinking the same potion twice doesn't even guarantee the same effects unless you are lucky enough to "learn" the potion, which only has a chance of happening upon consuming it. Finally enemy variety is somewhat large, but they don't really gain any complexity as the game goes on. A bat will be brown and fly and bite on level 1, and it will by pink and have more health/damage on level 3. As a result combat becomes a bit tedious due to lack of variety or interesting factors like elite enemies.

Cons:
Blind dumb luck can kill you a llittle too often. I have had multiple runs where each melee weapon breaks on me during Cave/Sewers, and I literally run out of weapons to use. Elsewise, food never drops, and I have no way to recover from damage... ever. It takes almost 2 hours to complete a run and I still hold that this is a bit long for a roguelike. Each time I restart, my first thought is "oh great, now I have to spend 45 mins to get through the first 2 easy levels to reach the fun and challenging stuff". Finally, REPLAYABILITY IS MINIMAL. Gold you have found in previous runs can be used to give you a leg up at the start of a new run, or at the very rare vendors you find bewteen levels, but this is a very lackluster feeling. Buying a powerful weapon will only last you a level or two, a magic item even less. A strong replayability factor is crucial to roguelikes, and it is easily the weakest part of this game.

Conclusion, its a promising but ulltimately disappointing title. Pick it up if you can get it half off ($7.50 or lower), but not worth the $15 price tag. I hope to see more from this developer though! Learning from the mistakes of the first title, a second could be very promising.

What can I say... this game was a mess. I only recommend because I love Warhammer 40k, so it was overall positive (if only just). Here's a short pro/con list.

CON: TERRIBLE AI (friend and enemy), lackluster story, highly unsatisfying ending, lack of enemy variety, several major UI design flaws, levels 8/9 are the SAME IDENTICAL MAP AS 5/6 (9 maps total, thats 22% boys), ugly/disappointing textures (especially in the prep area you see before EVERY mission, I mean come on Games Workshop....), no expansion to the universe or lore, used only existing canon.

PROs: satisfying weapons, captured Warhammer 40k feel, VERY cool map layout (especailly with symmetry/asymmetry facets). Relatively fun multiplayer (eliminates the SUUUUPER frustrating friendly AI).

Overall, a disappointing title, even for 35$. At a bare minimum, the friendly AI could have been improved to be less achingly frustrating (blocking shots, ignoring attackers), and give it an adequate ending cinematic!!! The intro was decent, so what happened? Run out of budget. Finished the campaign (with 100% optionals) in 6.5 hours.

TLDR: 4/10, buy ONLY when its less than 15$, play on easy/medium so you don't feel cheated by the horrible friendly UI in story, or get friends to play with you.

10/10, probably my favorite game of all time. If you enjoyed XCOM Enemy Unkown, this is an improved verison of that game. Bugs, balancing, strategy, and overall feel are all improved. I cannot emphasize enough what an excellent strategy game this is. Buy it now. If you own it, buy the DLC. It's worth every penny.

An absolutely fantastic rogue-like. It features unlockable items for future playthroughs and unlockable characters for different styles of play. Everything is centered on a grim, if at times horrific motif that somehow manages to not take itself too seriously. Every playthrough is varied, and the quantity of unlockable content will keep you coming back for more for hours on end.

10/10, A must have game if you enjoy arcade/rogue-likes.

This is a very neat puzzle game. I love the atmosphere and what little plot the public test gives away. I am interested to see how you being a robot factors into the game.

Pros: neat puzzles, fun exploratory atmosphere, SUPPORT FOR EYEFINITY!!! YAY!!!! (cannot say how much I love this)
Cons: none so far.

Keep up the good work for the full game!

Hammerwatch is highly enjoyable experience. The classes are individual and unique, and each gain interesting powers throughout the course of the game. Secrets and treasure feel very rewarding, and the boss fights are very well done. It is a roguelike and there is permadeath, however you are able to find extra lives throughout the game at a rate which make the game seem challenging, but not unforgivingly cutthroat.

The good:
Excellent boss fights
rewarding loot
fun multiplayer
excellent classes
semi-regular updates. Yay new classes!

The bad:
Standard enemies are repetative and unoriginal, either melee or ranged. Need more enemy individuality!
The mysterious wooden planks found in game tie into the game in a bad way. Cannot tell more without spoilers.

Overall: 8/10
An enjoyable experience for $10. As a roguelike it will keep you coming back for more!
