River Otters
Otters live in groups of about ten individuals. The groups are called holts. Each group consists of a parent couple and their cubs. They hunt, sleep, and socialize with each other. Otter groups do not socialize with other groups. Otter groups look out for their cubs and make sure they don’t get hurt. For the first two months, the older otters bring food to the cubs because they’re not old enough to hunt for themselves. Afterwards, they are taught to hunt for themselves and join the group.
