Yeah, the Lannisters are all, like, severely emotionally undeveloped/maldeveloped, particularly those ‘golden twins’. Here’s my theory: Tywin Lannister, the All-Father of the Lions, goes contra to his father, who was soft-hearted and failed to follow through on an execution threat to a disloyal bannerman. This move politically defanged the Lions, costing them loyalty of their subordinates and fear of their rivals, ultimately decimating the Lannister dynasty. Consequently, Tywin is the most Machiavellian, ‘hardcore' player in the ‘game of thrones’; unflinchingly ruthless to the point that he completely alienates himself from his own family, treating his own kin like inanimate chess pieces, herding his children around into position like prized cattle and slaughtering them (emotionally) when it serves to grow the Lannister Empire.

After a thousand brothels Tyrion ‘the playa’ Lannister finally finds true love and Tywin threatens to behead her if he ever sees her again, then sets up Tyrion + Sansa to secure a bargaining chip with the Starks. Then Tywin matchmakes Cersei + Loras to cement their position with the House Tyrell, second most loaded family in Westeros needed to finance a war on the army-amassing Mother of Dragons et. al. In that light I think it’s only natural that the family with the most coldly calculating godfather has the most dysfunctional relationships (ergo raping sister infront of dead spawn of their incest). </dissertation>
