Because fighting is only right.

Join the folds - the warm, inviting folds - of www.rockpapershotgun.com. Nestle with us as we hold gaming hands around the world. Then slide fingers across bare, taut, hot gaming skin, before descending into ungainly gaming groping.

(Followed by gaming shame and gaming regret)

Look for our BFBC2 server by searching for "rock" in game.

In our current time of overly serious FPS games, Blood Dragon is a welcome relief. It takes the awesome mechanics from Far Cry 3 and then applies an over the top 1980s theme that will keep you laughing. The jokes never get in the way of the gameplay, and the game lasts exactly the right amount of time. in all honesty I think this is the best piece of DLC I have ever played. You can tell that the entire team who created this addition had a blast working on it, and basically did whatever the hell they felt like.
Also, for those of you who have played Far Cry 3, I think it's a pretty clear 'fuck you' to all of the critics who complained about the writing and setting of FC3.

This game does what none other (that I can remember) does: brings Total War style battles to the 1960-1980s (there's no turn based metagame though). Not only that, in game it is without a doubt one of the single best strategy games I have ever played both in depth and breadth of scope.
However, it comes at a cost. For the first 5 hours of game play until you have unlocked some of the units (you buy each unit beyond a very basic set using stars earned in multiplayer and singleplayer) you will be frustrated. You will want to use the fancy toys you can't yet afford to unlock, and the units you have seem lame. But there is a point in this: in order to win you have to know how get the best out of every unit, from the common rifleman to the Apache attack helicopter. Because if you do not understand all your units in depth, you will lose every time.
The campaign is uncomprosing, and each mission will often require you to complete goals that are almost mutually exclusive. Each mission is a puzzle, and until you find the solution it can be infuriating.
But when your strategy and tactical skills come together it is one of the most rewarding experiences in gaming. Recon pin points enemy positions, infantry hold the line, tanks advance, artillary is brought raining down on entrenched positions and helicopters bring the assault from uexpected directions. Combined arms is the only way you will win, and at no point can you just point your units to the enemy and tell them to march forward.
There are many more reasons that this game is awesome, but it is hard to describe it because there is so little that is like it in gaming. So in short: go play it, you won't regret it.

This game is simply awesome. As you jump across the universe you are in a constant state of agitation, preparing to fight battles that are never assured victories and calculating the long term cost of every action. That's a very vague overview, but this article does a brillant job of capturing why FTL is so good: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/09/19/ftl-diary/
