Mindless fun, tonnes of custom content. Pretty sure I'll be playing this into my middle age in some capacity.

Blame Valve/Activision for this game getting released in the state its in, though its not as unplayable as you may have expected. It's super ambitious for the Source Engine and is still gorgeous. Mods take it to another level and the replay value is near infinite. I always come back to it every couple months.

Fun classic, though mods are essential if you wish to play it comfortably these days. As far as gameplay goes it gets more and more fun, and more and more crazy up until you return to where it starts then it just becomes less fun and personally my enjoyment trails off by that point.

In the short time I've had to play this game after recently being given it as a gift, I can safely say I wouldn't regret receiving it even if I payed for it with my own money.

The controls feel tight and responsive; you know exactly what you're doing and when they happen, the visuals are superb with lots of detail going into both the characters and the backgrounds they fight on. The controller compatibility was amazing; I managed to hook up my PS2 controller through an adapter and play the game instantly without any trickery or jumping through hoops, plus the background music is superb to boot.

Overall I can't suggest this enough if you want a good solid fighting game to play by yourself, or to play with friends either sat beside you or miles away!
